1.
what sort of thing are you after, trade-wise?
Good question!! I do want a korg pitchblack, would also be interested in a multi effects pedal Would also be interested in trading this bass and my ashdown five fifteen combo on another (better) amp/combo. Just for reference my ashdown is this one http://www.ashdownmusic.com/bass/detail.asp?section=practice&ID=223
2. All in the link above, however, copied and pasted here. This is a bass that started life as a Wesley Monarch model. Classic combination of alder body, pretty maple neck and rosewood fingerboard. Bolt-on neck, attached via a solid plateless 5-bolt joint. The neck is slim, and plays great without fret buzz. Strings are not new, but it hasn't been used much since last re-string so they're pretty bright. Tuning stability is excellent, especially considering the slim neck. The original pickups were replaced with these humbuckers with hidden polepieces. Not sure about the source. Original electronics have been replaced and a 3-band preamp has been installed, with a passive/active switch. Controls are: 1) volume (pulled: passive, pushed: active) 2) pickup pan selector, centre detented 3) mid-frequency control: centre detent 4) concentric bass/treble controls: no centre detent (like original Stingray) Bass is in great cosmetic condition and otherwise. It was my back-up bass (to my Warwick Corvette $$) for a while and I've used it in rehearsals and once live, but it was always very well looked after. The neck pickup is quite close to a P-bass, whilst the bridge pickup is a bit more nasal than a Jazz bridge, with a bit of extra bass it cuts through very well, and the mids control will give you more cut than you're likely to want. Not an expensive bass, but one that works well and sounds pretty good and can be gigged without trouble. Pics on link, open to offers
3. anyone? overpriced? or just an unkown so nobody interested? Any ideas where else to put this up for sale instead of ebay!?
4. bump, looks like this over priced or just the wrong market? ebay it seems, boooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!
5. top for a sunny day, as said, open to offers, but possibly the wrong place to advertise this as its a low end bass?
6. Just seen these are 119 new, however this one has been modified with better pick ups and a set up so am hoping that my price isn't too ambitious! Open to offers but will drop it already to £100 posted in light of the fact that these are cheap new
7. After recently acquiring a new bass i am selling the old one now. It is a Modified Actice Wesley Monarch bought off here around 12 months ago. Has been set up by a luthier upon purchase as it buzzed a little which turned out to be a fret that was a little high. Plays very well, and the original ad is here as I am no expert on it technically. http://basschat.co.u...__fromsearch__1 I have no gig bag to post in but it would be bubble wrapped and wrapped in cardboard/home made box prior to posting. Looking for £100 including postage I am located in Southampton if anyone wishes to view/try before purchase. Can meet up nearby to save travel time/cost (within reason of course!) Its a very good bass for the money and I would keep it as a back up but I could do with the cash. Cheers, Andy
8.
I think the OP took the plunge on that Washburn/status last night.......
I did indeed, my bass tutor said it was a good buy and he has owned one so I am hoping it will see me through for a while and will start saving for the next step which i am hoping will be a bigger budget of 500+ Thanks for all the advice
9. Hi all, I am sure this has been asked many a time, I am a relative beginner but imroving (slowly!) Now, I currently play a modified wesley which I didn't pay mega bucks for, however, I want a bit more depth and quality and find myself looking at basses for sale, and why not xmas is coming! Not being an expert I am looking for guidance on if it is even worth spending around 300 on a replacement or if i should wait until i can step up to the 500+ bracket? I appreciate I will be looking at the 2nd hand market for better value for money. I would like a 4 string fretted, and my main interest is funk music although it needs to be a good all rounder. But i want a bass with a nice deep fat sound!! Any guidance appreciated
10.
Is your teacher able to help you with lowering the string height (or at least advise who to go to if not)? Experienced teachers should know about this stuff.
he lowered it yesterday as much as poss, i have emailed him today with the shim idea and he says go for it as its fairly simple to do and ultimately reverse if it doesn't work!
11. Yeah, i shall leave the truss rod well alone!!! My bass teacher is happy with the shape of the neck and the releif, its just the string height that needs altering so i think i will try this card trick. At least its easily reversed if it makes it worse!!!
12. Ahh, its a bolt on neck so i will have a read of that
13. Hello, I am a beginner in the world of Bass playing but enjoying it immensly At my lesson last night my bass teacher commented that my guitar has quite a high action, now i didn't have a clue what he was on about but he then explained!!! He has adjusted it, but it is still quite high, it seems the adjustment screws are fully in. The bass is a modified wesley Now, my question is, how can i lower the action of my bass a bit more without shelling out too much money!!! Hope that makes sense above!!!! Cheers
14. Excellent thanks, the bass is a modified wesley, wood finish so i think i will just get some basic cleaner and leave the strings alone. Strings wise, they are relatively new and i haven't the first idea about the different types of strings so when they look like they need changing i will seek more advice!
