It does require the use of a soldering iron though. Do you know how to use one?

haha, i did electronics at school, i knew that would come in handy some day!

Ill start looking to into getting some now, anyone got an idea with bridges?

  2. hi all.

was just looking for some advice, thinking of upgrading the pickups and bridge on this squier p bass i picked up last year.

I was thinking of changing the pickups as ive heard good things about the wizard pickups. i play mostly with a pick and i go for a nice bright "trebeley"(if thats the word) tone but with some deep bass power behind it.

however, i am not too technically minded and have no idea what im doing, is this going to be difficult for me to figure out?

    i appreciate any wisdom!

  3. i got mine just before new year, fender was doing a £25 instant rebate aswell (result!) so got mine for just over £250.

what an excellent bass for the money, sold my fender mexican jazz to make way (and funds) for it, as i wanted to give five string a try.

great decision on my part, such a high quality bass for the price!

Anyone thought that instead of making it technically more interesting for themselves, they could use the time to make the act more visually appealing to the audience??

It is a show after all.

I`d echo Daz`s view, Squier Classic Vibe Precision - great for the JJ sound.

Ampwise, assuming you buy the Squier new, you`ll have about £80 leftover. Now an amp that is versatile, and loud, with a nice amount of gain on it, again for JJ type sounds, is the Marshall MB15. GAK, are doing them for £72.

The MB has two channels, Modern, which has compression, and Classic, which emulates a valve amp, and has gain. Cracking little amp for the money.

+1 for the MB-15, i use it at home for practising on and its a great sounding amp, really good.

as for the bass, i dont know if they do a vintage modified p-bass, but i recently bought the squier vintage modified jazz and its unbelievable for the money(im not a fan of heavily lacquered necks),

i got £25 off my new squier as they are doing some instant rebate offers on www.gak.co.uk currently, not sure whether these are still running...

  6. For Sale i have a standard mexican jazz bass.

No room for it, would like to keep it but i have just bought a five string jazz so its got to go!!

Has been gigged and you can see from photos that it has a few dinks around the bottom of the body.

It also had a sticker on the scratchplate and there is an extremely faint mark where this was, (can be replaced of course if a massive problem)

Plays beautifully and has a great sound,

    Based in Northwich, Cheshire.

    Looking for £175!
