1.
Just a quick question. I'm wondering how this would work regarding shipping?
Whether the company will ship to individual purchasers (which would entail separate packaging of course) or possibly more likely, if they're discounting the product, send as one bulk order to a single address. Pads would obviously then need to be re-posted to individual buyers. Just wondering on the logistics etc of this. Sorry if I'm missing something here, but just wanted to check anyway... :)
The price I paid for mine was a shipped price and was shipped in the Gramma's box with a FedEx label slapped on it. I have asked for a discount price based on shipping to the individual buyers and I would be hoping for a saving on the price I paid.

The other thing to mention is that I bought a GRAMMA for use with a TE 1x15 combo - the dimensions of the GRAMMA are slightly smaller than the TE combo (GRAMMA - 23", TE Combo - 24.2") but the feet on the TE were spaced 21" apart so fitted onto the pad almost perfectly.

  2. Just a note to say I've contacted the company I bought mine from (who appeared to be the cheapest at the start of last week) to see if they will offer a discount - in the meantime if you can let me know if you want one, it may help negotiating a bigger discount.

  3.
..thinking about it, how squishy are these? Would a couple of 2x10s stacked end-on-end with a lead sled head on top be as stable as it would be on the floor?
IIRC the spec sheet says they will support upto 300lbs. I don't weigh 300lbs but I know I am heavier than a big 115 combo - I stood on the pad and coulnd't compress the foam to the floor. I would't be too concerned about sticking 2 210s on it.

  4.
That does it....
You won't regret it Al. I am seriously considering another two to put the guitar amps on. Mine was alright as I had it on a stand, but the other lad's was on my pedalboard lid and had a few 'issues' shall we say?!

  5. GROUP BUY - I'll add a list of who wants one to the bottom of this post so I can keep track of it!

I know this topic has been covered over and over again but by God, what a simple yet very effective bit of kit.
I ordered one last week for use by the bassist in the band I play guitar in - we have had a lot of problems at one particular venue that has a 4" high stage that just seems to suck bass into it and then boom and feedback with every note played below a certain frequency. This is picked up by the vocal mics and then pushed through the PA and monitors and it was just turning into a nightmare - I had read a lot about GRAMMA pads on here and thought I should try one.

We tried the pad at practice (carpeted, stone floor) and noticed a difference even there, but when we took it to the gig, all the bass booming and feedback problems were completely eliminated. There was no more feedback, no more booming noise, the bottom end was much much tighter - the bass sounded great with the amp set completely flat and didn't seem to need to be pushed as hard. I think it actually improved the overall sound of the band too and I am so happy I bought one.

I got it from a shop seller on ebay who was offering free delivery and I think it cost me £43. I could have probably bought a bit of 15mm ply, a bit of Platfoam and some Maplin carpet for half that price, but I would have had to go and buy all the tools to put it together and it just wasn't worth it - I'd actually have paid double for one if I had known it was going to make such a difference.

Anybody who is thinking of buying one should get one now - a must have I reckon!

  6.
I have a Michael Kelly Dragonfly 5... it works for me and the inlays look the dogs if you ike that kind of thing. Good VFM even if I did have to import if from Texas. I have found that the strings on an acoustic make a huge difference. Good ones make the bass sound great but bad ones can give you a really duff tone - more marked IME than with a pure electric. The Thomastic-Infeld are my favourites, but a bit fragile and effing expensive.

My dad's got a Michael Kelly Dragonfly fretless 5 and thinks it's very nice. Although the next bass on his list is a fretless Godin A5.

  7. I have seen something else I must have and it's so similar to this Tele, I have to sell the Tele to even justify buying it. If it's so similar why not just keep the Tele and not bother buying the other thing? Dunno - completely irrational, but isn't that GAS?

So - CIJ Fender Telecaster Custom 72 RI - I bought this brand new from a Northern Ireland dealer in January 2007. It's one of the only brand new guitars I've ever bought and at the time, it was the only "good" guitar I had. I gigged it in my covers band until I got my first Les Paul and these days I only play it in the Country-Noir band I am in.
It's in very good condition - there are a few light pick scratches on it and a few scratches on the back - I don't know if that Fender/Meguiars stuff would buff it all out, I've never tried it. There's a bit of fretwear that came as a bit of a surprise as it started so soon, but there's still life in the frets and I can't see it needing a refret anytime soon. Pretty soon after I got it, I had it set up for 10s (from factory 9s) by Howard Smith in Leicester, who I reckon is the best tech I've ever been to.
Christmas Day 2007, I put a new bridge pickup in it (present from my dad!) as the factory fit bridge pickup couldn't quite keep up volume wise with the humbucker - the new one (a Giovanni from axesrus) is much much better suited to the bridge humbucker.

The difference between the CIJ and the MIM ones is the CIJ body is ash opposed to the MIM's alder construction and the wide range pickup is ceramic on the CIJ and AlNiCo on the MIM. The CIJ's tuners are Gotoh rather than the Schaller reissues (I don't even know if they're proper Schallers or just licensed). A mate of mine told me he'd replaced the pots on a Mexican made one because the vol/tone pots for the humbucker were only 250k and felt that 500ks opened up the sound a lot better. I got some Alpha 500k pots, took the pickguard off (why I didn't think to check this when I replaced the pickup I don't know) and discovered it already had 500k pots factory fitted - win I reckon! It came with a crap Gibson gig bag which I either sold or gave away and I put it straight into a Hiscox hardcase. This is included in the sale, would cost you in excess of £50 and is in great condition except for a small hole inside, where the cut string ends/machine heads have caught the lining. The key is still taped inside the flap and has never been used.

Price - McGuitars are listing these at £749 + delivery (a tenner I think although it may have gone up!) and Guitar Emporium £779. The Japanese list price is over 90,000 Yen which, by the time you add delivery, VAT and import duty, I think is about £950 - you must be able to import them for less than that or McGuitars and GE would never be able to sell them for what they do.
I would like £600 (to INCLUDE the Hiscox case), which would get me about 4/5 of the way to buying the thing I want, but would trade for a G&L Asat Bluesboy or Plus as long as it's ALL black (I mean black body, matching headstock and ebony fingerboard) and nothing else (unless it's crazily weighted in my favour!). I am in Leicester and would prefer it to be picked up but am not averse to sticking it in a box and sending it to you. Withdrawn from sale

This is a pic from just after I got it, but am happy to provide more recent pics.

  8. Goldtop ends on ebay tonight. Golchen, I think the Desertburst one will be staying with me - it's remarkably similar to the GT but is battered and bruised, has a pair of SD Pearly Gates pickups and is obviously not gold! It has been my go to guitar for the last 2 and a bit years when everything else has either sat in the cupboard or been sold to pay the bills (including my 335 and 4 Les Pauls :) ).
I can't see myself parting with it any time soon. I am however considering selling my Tele Custom to buy a G&L Asat I've spotted.....mmmmmmm

  9. If I list anything for sale, I put my location in the thread. I also think there's a case for putting your actual location in the profile in the first place.
I think if the location is in the sub-header it may put people who are a long way away off buying the said amp/cab. I don't think enough people are prepared to consider shipping amps and cabs - OK, so with insurance it might cost anywhere between £20 - £50 with somebody like p4d or interparcel, but there's no reason why it can't be done.

Edited to correct a post that didn't make any sense due to missing words and bad grammar.

  10. Hello folks.
Can any owners of a TE 715 please measure from the outside edge of one of the rubber feet to the outside edge of the opposite rubber foot? I am looking for a width measurement across the front of the amp. I know from the TE site that the 715x is 24.2" across, but I would like to know how far apart the feet are spaced to know whether it will fit on a 23" Gramma Pad.

    Cheers!
