  1. I've had mine a few months, bought mainly for recording, but I've used it live too. Just passive basses, 2 Precisions and a Jazz. It really is fantastic for recording, just plug straight into the desk and compress on mix down, it's just there. It even makes my Dano Longhorn sound expensive. The eq is great, and surprisingly versatile for a 2 band. Live, I've used the high pass with bass dialled back in a bit to 8 or 9 o'clock, treble at 12, through an MB III set flat (effects return on these doesn't bypass the amp's eq). I've also used it for recording a Rhodes, it really brings it alive and gives it a bit of air. All in all a fab bit of kit, and better than money in the bank in current conditions.

That looks good, can you adjust it to slide it on or off easily or do you lock it in place

It's a rocker mechanism that snaps it on or off. A bit Heath Robinson, but very effective when set up properly.

  3. I have the Fender Jaguar-type mute on my Sean Hurley sig Precision, it works very well, so I bought another to fit to my Nash P. Trouble is it's a faff to fit, and needs holes drilling etc, so has remained in a drawer somewhere. I need one that is selectable as I use it at different times in the set. Luckily, I came across a Ellio Martinez bass mute for sale on here, it arrived this morning and it's now fitted. It works very well, 3 positions, no more fumbling with bits of foam mid set.

I think the Jaguar one pivots on the screws doesn’t it, so guess you have no choice there.

Yes it's a bit Heath Robinson and difficult to adjust effectively, and it needs a big hole of precise depth for the spring plunger thingy. Would have preferred the Bassmute, but hard to get. Well done on finding one, got to love the BC wanteds.

  5. I tried to order one of these months ago, but never heard back from them. I have the Fender Jaguar one on my CS Sean Hurley, it works very well, so I've just got another one from Allparts for my Nash. £40 delivered. Quite invasive to fit though, what with holes to be drilled etc. I think I'll leave it to my tech.

Never played a Nash, but they seem to be pricey by comparison.

Things like this are one reason why - My Limelight:

    Compared to my Nash:

  7. I've owned a Limelight, a Nash, and a Fender, all Ps, all at the same time, and there's not a lot between them really. I moved the Limelight on, mainly because it had a Jazz neck, which I didn't get along with, and kept the other two. The aged hardware on the Limelight, particularly the bridge, was just plain rusty, and was difficult to adjust, although I believe this has been rectified on more recent builds, and you can specify new hardware if you want. Also, the loom on mine was very untidy, although it functioned as it should. The Nash is on another level on details like that, but is more expensive. The good thing about the Limelight is that Mark will build you what you want, and you can talk directly to him. A custom build from Nash would take a long time to materialise, although Bass Direct have a few in stock at the moment.

    YMMV.
