UKBA should, if the item arrives at Coventry International Hub, look at the item description, allocate it's correct code and calculate accordingly. Thing is, these guys are not doing it, even when the correct commodity code is on the shipping docket. It's starting to annoy the hell out of me: I'm not here to their job for them and if they want their pound of flesh then I expect them to do it properly! I've already received two adjustment refunnds this year from them and my MP is involved with the issues as well.

It's not fair, and they think that cos their part of HMRC they can do as they see fit. Well, not with this fella!

Can you tell us what they are doing wrong? Is it the wrong commodity code? Does it makea big difference and who do you call to fix it?

Went to see Pee Wee Ellis and the Funk Academy at the Cardiff Big Weekend last night.
A bit too "instrumental" for a general audience but the addition of Claire Teal to sing a couple of songs to end teh set made it better. They did a great funk soaked slow grinding speed version of I feel Good. It was great but I really wished they'd come back and encored it at racing speed
Laurence Cottle on bass was understated but spot on... Could have done with The Chicken and a few more well known tunes though.

The Big Weekend is a great weekend of free gigs, local upstarts on Friday, International names on Saturday (headlines Chaka Demus and his Pliers) and young persons bands on Sunday (Feeder, Athlete)

Simple: don't play venues with them fitted. That's our rule.

If a venue has a noise limiter they probably have a damn good reason (and this is not about noise at work for employees). That means that Environmental Health noise guys have been involoved and the venue licence will be under threat.
If you plug in somewhere else with the venue managers OK then he will be risking his licence.

New band or piccolo bass?
Or, of course, do a Dood and go lower still.

Yup Luthier months are usually about 60-90 days long.
Of course you have to factor in supplier delays too. My Shuker was delayed by 2 months or so waiting for a pickup...

Most of these exotic facings are from managed woodlands. There may be bits in luthiers wood piles left over from before the world got sensible.


And I thought he was talking about Canadian Gritters. I didn't really know what that was, not being Canadian. I assumed it was something like the blokes that drive those gritter lorries, and they live in wooden shacks in Bamph or Brum or something, and someone has cut holes in their huts.

Oh please don't paint us all with the same brush... However your post did read like an argument looking for someone to argue with.
Pretty basses Vs functional basses is a well worn path and the description of a "coffee table" will annoy some people. In that absence of any hints it's not surprising that some people may take the post at its face value.


Meanwhile:
There are lots of people on here who like both, me included. I also like a nice bit of grain shining through a traditional sunburst or other translucent finish.
It depends on the bass and context...
