Without pictures it's hard to say, but IIRC every Fender (and Squier) produced in '96 had a 50th anniversary sticker on the back of the headstock. Chances are it's just a standard production P Bass of the time, rather than something specific produced for the 50th anniversary.

Thanks for that. Yes I've read it was just a standard before, it does indeed have the sticker on the rear of the headstock.

A previous owner has fitted a badass bridge to it, been wondering whether to reverse the mod.

  2. Hi all

I have a couple of pbasses which I use for everything these days.

A 2004 black on maple and a 1996 oly white with rosewood. I believe it is one of the 50th anniversary models of that time.  I bought it off someone on here years ago and I can't for the life of me remember who.

Just wondering really, as they sound quite different, what is the 96 based on model wise? What pickups are in them etc?

The neck is pretty chunky and it has a much darker round tone than the maple 2004.

    Cheers

    Tim

  3. This is my old squeeze, I am the original owner and it was my only bass for many many years.

I owned this from new and believe me, if I could afford to, I'd have this back in a dash.

Classic Spector sound with the IMO best looking finish and the woods are settled in perfectly.

These basses represent the rarest of commodities: Hand built quality at production line price point.

Hand on heart I'd testify mine is of a higher build quality than my Overwater.

Not going to argue with that!

They are incredible beasts. Slinky, smooth, highly playable and great sounding. Whenever I pick it up I wonder if I'm mad for selling it.

  5. Hi all

Here is my latest song, recorded and mixed in my spare bedroom.

I guess lyrically it's about the complexities of life and the changing of perspectives between being a youngster and an adult.

I hope someone out there likes it

Yeah, i checked for infos online, and if i'm not wrong, i should add a 22% of the price including the shipping plus a 5%. Waaaaay too much. It's a shame because i really liked your bass and the price was good. Glwts 😕

Thanks. Yeah I'm aware it's crazy prices to import stuff now due to 'brexit'.....good luck with your search for a nice Spector 👍👍

Hey, just wanted to ask if you know what are the final costs to buy this beauty from Italy. Thanks

I'm afraid I have no idea of the costs, UK sale preferred I guess, wouldn't want to risk sending this outside of the country.

That is beautiful. I'm not in the market for another bass, but that is gorgeous.

To be honest it plays like butter and it has that Spector growl in spades. Played it this morning and had a 'Am I crazy to sell this' moment! Haha

You don’t know how hard I’m trying not to buy this as a total Tube freak.
Someone buy it for gods sake, Think of my children!!!

    I can't believe it's still here!

Absolute bargain and complete tone machine, nothing better out there.

May be due to the fact I'm selling as a complete rig and collection only, but I'd rather do that and hold onto it for the right buyer whether local or further afield.

    What's the weight please

According to matamp the weight is 28kg for the mark 2 so I think the mark 1 is a small margin lighter.

The price for the heads has gone up as well £2199 new now so this is an utter steal for a full rig. In fact I am definitely short changing myself given it's a mark 1 which are the mutts nuts 👍

I did, we met in a service area off the M4 if I recall correctly.  That was a fabulous amp BTW, even better than the V8 I later owned.  We both know it weighed an insane amount though, especially with the shockmount case.  I miss it sometimes.

Wow how many years ago was that Kiwi now!!? So much time has passed and I hope you are well and it's good to see you're still on the forum. I've spent a while away from the forum (life..parenthood etc) but I'm back on here now and mainly just read through the posts and enjoy the chilled nature of the place. Miss some of the old members posts mind. I remember the old bassworld site fondly.

Yes that head was an utter delight and I harboured regrets for a while over that sale haha!!! Absolutely phenomenal sound and power.

I'll check the head in a bit and get back to you.

The cab is pretty heavy mind - definitely a trolly job or two man lift. I have a trolly of sorts that will come with the rig which makes it easier to shift from the car to venue.
