1. I hope it sells too because I want this amp!
2. Would you consider part ex with a MIM Fender P? Excellent condition, comes with gig bag.
3. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 1 post to view.
4. Loud enough for functions and pubs un-mic'd/DI'd?
5. How do, I only just got this, and was planning on keeping it. However, something's come up and newest thing has to go. I paid £360 for it from eBay just a couple of weeks ago and never gigged it. It comes with flatwound strings on, black pickguard and a bridge cover with foam padding in, all of which can be changed. It's in excellent condition, no noticable marks at all on the body. Pickguard has swirls and pick marks as normal. Also comes with gig bag. Here's a screenshot of the pics from the auction I won. £300, can DHL at buyer's expense (£15 or so), but I'd rather not as I'd have to source a box from somewhere! EDIT - I'm in York More pics:
6. I will do that ASAP Payday today so I'll get some of hose Dr Highbeams. What gauge is "normal"? Thanks for all the help by the way, I'm a guitarist and have been for 8 years or so. I know lots about guitars and guitar gear, but not a lot about bass stuff If anyone wants to have a listen to the band I play in here is a YouTube link: My band! Coincidentally, that song was actually recorded on a Fender P! Albeit an old US one. Dunno what amp it was though... Whatever The Kaiser Chiefs use because I was using there bassist's rig.
7.
Precision basses have their own sound, which you either like or you don't, but no wonder the tone is lifeless and dull! Get rid of the foam and put on a good set of round wounds. It still might not be "your" sound but it will sound a lot better.
I will do just that! Elixirs? I believe that's what's on my Schecter (I "inherited" this bass, that's why I don't know ) Also, yes, the amp isn't amazing by any means... it's one of them Line 6 1x15 combos. I'm looking at getting a better 1x12/15 though. £5/600.
8. I used it in a band scenario, not very loud though, and I just don't think it sounded as good. How different are Jazzes and P Basses? I'd love to try all these out but I don't have much chance to The sound I'm after if your typical pop/rnb bassy bass sound... can't explain really
9. I bought a Fender P bass not too long back. I play a Schecter Stiletto Custom 5 and I love the sound. It's got EMGs in it (They're EMG HZ, in the guitar world the HZ series aren't active?), sounds nice and... bassy! But I'm not the biggest fan of how it looks. I wanted something more traditional, so I bought a lovely P bass. Just a MIM one, but it has a black scratchplate and a bridge cover which looks sweet Only problem is, it sounds lifeless. Clunky, just not as good as the Schecter. It isn't as "focused" (compressed?)... I dunno. Just dull. I play pop/rock music, so maybe I need something jazzier? The P bass seems to be more suited to rock sounds rather than nice bassy sounds. It has flatwound strings on it, not old ones, and has some foam in the bridge cover. Should I try changing the strings first? Should I get active pickups? Or just sell it and try a Jazz?
10. Oh, forgot to mention that ideally it wants a DI out. I won't be gigging huge places, maybe large clubs (500 people).
11. Ibanez really? Obviously I'm not an experienced bassist (as I said), but in the world of guitar amps Ibanez are terrible! Will try and find one out.
12. How do all. I'm new to bass, kinda. I've played guitar for ages, now play bass in a pop/rock group. The music we do is kinda like Beatles/McFly/The Feeling. We also cover lots of different things from Free, to Mika, to Stevie Wonder, to Van Morrison. I play 2 basses. One's a MIM Fender P and the other's a Korean Schecter 5 string. I want a combo for portability reasons, so no head/cabs. Ideally I'd like a Mark Bass but they're a bit out of budget at the mo, unless they go used for cheap? The combo I use right now is a Line6 1x15; it's OK, but I want something better Cheers.
