Here is some more tech spec from an email I have found from the original and first owner>>>>>>>>>>

    Hi
I found the original spec, which is below detailed below it doesn't mention the Villex boost gizmo. The Lowinder pickups are on his web site, they are the Fat Jazz type,I believe Lowinder are an off shoot of Bare knuckle pick ups, who are an English company down Devon way I think, he is a distributor, they are certainly very punchy.

  2. Hi all

I am a rhythm guitarist and last year dipped my toe into the bass scene as fancied a crossover opportunity - I have enjoyed it but now find myself back in the rhythm guitarist slot in the band line up - as such I am not playing 'da bass' these days so tentatively wondering whether I should keep hold of the basses I have. One is a Fender Plyte in mint condition which,as a female is probably more suitable for me (if not such a good quality instrument admittedly) so I think I will hang on to that. The other is this Shuker bass that I bought last year from a really helpful, nice, knowledegable player who was having another Shuker built so found this one surplus to requirements

It is almost mint with just a little pick guard swirling and pick marking; I can hardly find a mark anywhere else

Best to take a look at the pics....... Its nice isnt it!? :)

I am wondering what its worth and am not desparate to sell; however I AM a realist and know a) how much these are to buy new and :D that folk are a little cashstrapped these days so am prepared to be sensible but not in a desparate kind of way as I know these are sought after instruments

Anyway Enough from me - here she is.... any other info give me a holler! or any offers then reply here or PM me whichever you prefer! :)

  3. I bought this neck with a view to converting a fretless - the company then sent me a second one so I had two necks and one bass - so the first neck was snapped up on this forum at Christmas time

In the intervening period I came acrsoss a Shuker bass with maple neck and black block neck and this is now my weapon of choice and I sold the fretless

Sooooooo....have the original unused maple and black block marker neck for sale - as you know these retail out at over £350 so am asking for £199 ONO

Will also throw in some Fender decals if you wanted to dress it up

  4. in my quest for a white bass with a black block neck I ordered an Allparts neck from the states and they sent me two!

I agreed with the seller to see if I could sell it rather than us incur the cost of posting back

So here is an unused Allparts black markered maple jazz bass neck as here - will fit Fender Jazz bass guitar bodies >>>>>

    http://www.allparts.uk.com/online-shop/all..._1_122_124.html

RRP £321 selling for £199 including postage and some Fender decals if you wanted to badge it up

    thanks :)

  5. Having bought a Precision Lyte on this site I am looking for a suitable FX unit so I can tweak sounds - porbably in an uber obsessive way when i should be just practising ! - Any road up.....I play electric and use a pod X3 live and some Boss pedals but I frankly don't know where to start bass-wise

So any advice or signpost to member ads would be welcome

    thanks as always

    :)

  6. So ! :)

Thanks to Dr Dave (Fab Oly white JB) and Donny Boy (white precision lyte) I have now the two basses I wanted and now need to ruddy well crack on and learn to play em properly or at least equivalent to my electric (shouldnt be too difficult then!)

An earlier acquisition is now sat looking at me and is a great player but how sensible it is to have this much cash tied up? It is gorgeous and the previous owner was a cracking player who has set it up exquisitely!

    So here we have

1 - Shoreline gold USA Fender Jazz Bass
2 - With Fender original hard case
3 - Fender Custom shop 60s pick ups
    5 - Features S1 switching
    6 - 2006 Anniversary medal in headstock
7 - all in virtually mint condition

looking for around £625 - may consider a cheaper PX so as to ease the deal if its a nice one!

Send me a message if I can help any further with info and whatnot or if any more pics needed

  7.
Ok great!
I could be interested in buying the bass as is. J-neck and P -77 body for the price you are asking...
    Just so you know
hi could well be interested too but cant figure the price of the blocked neck and the natural body? or if preferred could you PM me the price?
    thanks

  8. I have several neck discs out of line and loose ( and screws apparently !)and cant play anything too heavy hence looking out for something light and with a jazz neck as am female and slim with wee mitts; so if i sell my P bass I may come back to you - its a shame though you have to consider giving it up - I do get some relief from taking glucosamine which apparently helps joints and skeletal problems (dont sue me am not a doctor!) it seems to work for me - gotta be worth a try? anyway - good luck with the sale if thats where you end up ...... :)

  9.
fender mustang bass with the competition stripes might be a good shortscale bass replacement for that mean lookin bass of yours.

yours reminds me of a very mean Ford Mustang fastback, don't know why....cool lookin bass tho, good luck with sale
I agree and indeed is on hitlist - but ideally looking for someone who will trade - would love a blue one or a white one .........:) and also an old one as they seem to have more soul generally

  10.
Heh heh blue one is never, ever, ever, ever, ever gonna happen ;-D the White one coming up for sale is a sign my life just went VERY wrong lol.

I got the stripes off eBay, damned if I can recall where though.

Edit: there's loads of pics of it in it's various guises over the years here:
    http://www.flickr.com/photos/34605698@N04/

I'm lovin that p bass, lushness!
dont gloat its not becoming :)!

they are really really cool basses love the pale block fingerboard

  11.
They are Gaf's but I know he would never get rid of the blue one and if he did you are 2 years behind me in the queue :)
lol fair enough - I bow to your first in the queue-ness

Im sure something will come along - as a 'switcher' from 6 string it would probably be wasted on me until i got some speed up on the 4 stringer

  12.
I've been after one of these for years

thanks for the confirmation of limited edition-ness! I was told this when I bought it so all seems to 'triangulate' !

I want either of those two MIJs in the photo above - who owns them and are they up for trade!! :)one of my lectrics is a sonic blue 60s Jag so would match a treat!

  13.
Nice bass Charlie.(you should have lucy/snoopy as your avatar tho' :) ) I f I were you,I'd consider purchasing a short scale bass (bronco, les paul etc.)
or even a headless if you're finding the bass a little on the big side. Good luck with the sale
looking for suitable avatar as i speak lol

  14.
Do you know if the stripes are original? Are they painted on? They look as if they may be car stripes added on by a previous owner.
hi

no i thought that too but when you feel the stripes they are most def UNDER the laquer :)

and yes it goes much faster because of them

  15. Hi all

I traded an electric for a 2001 USA Fender P bass with competition stripe some time ago but realised that a P Bass is a bit chunky for my female teeny mitts - I am also advised by your knowledgable bass-chatters that it is quite a rare thing (any further info gratefully received); condition wise its really good - there are a few dark marks here and there on the body which may be contact marks or at worse case finish imprefections but really nothing to get too exctited about unless you are looking for a mint piece

So on the sad basis that it is not sensible to just keep £s tied up in guitars I have no prospect of playing I am sending out this feeler as to anyone that may be interested in buying and possible sensible values - I was thinking around £650 .....NOW £625 POSTAGE INCLUDED - I may consider a trade for a jazz type bass with blocks and ideally a white body but will consider what you have !

Think this is a great forum and there is a whole lot of knowledge in the combined brain power of the members so over to you all!

    cheers

  16.
Some people loves Squiers on here, I'm playing a CV Jazz wth flatwounds on and I absolutely love it..a knife through butter!

There are a few Squiers which will easily give Fender MIM's a run for their money.

Think the best advice is to go and try some !

    Good luck with the search

    Dave
thanks Dave - I did and still have a precision competition stripe USA but its a bit too chunky and heavy for me so I need to operate a one in one out rule ! :)

  17. hi

thanks for the tip - the Hofner has the look - and I may cogitate on that one for sale - I love the Geddy Lee reverse coloured neck blocks and play a white Gibson with blocks hence the twinning idea for my first stab at bass ...! I know its not about the look but i am female so its an allowable weakness surely !

    thanks again :)
