I'm quite tempted by the HB Block 800B which seems to have all the options I would like, is affordable, reviews seem favourable and it would come with 3 year warranty ...  if I didn't like it (Or suffered the high floor noise I saw one user have) then I could return it.

I have one I am about to put up for sale, it's been my back up and never been used in anger! I am gradually selling all my gear as I am no longer gigging. PM for a good price!!

  2. Sad to say I am selling this pro spec bass rig as I am no longer gigging.  I bought the combo before the lockdown and as we know gigs stopped happening during that period and it was only used for one live stream and some home practice. Since then I've done a handful of gigs in small theatres with in house PA so it's only been used for monitoring and never broke a sweat. I bought the extension cab "just in case!" and it's never been used. I've now developed arthritis and it's a bit over the top for the odd blues jam I am still able to do.

The combo is quite tiny but it packs a serious punch suitable for most venues and when combined with the extension cab, would be able to fill any room. Both items are protected by Eich branded fitted covers.

Sound is pretty transparent, and there's an effects loop to enable the user to add their effects of choice. Aux input, headphone jack and tuner jack as standard and both items have a tilt back facility to enable you to direct the sound upwards for better monitoring.

These can realistically be described in "as new" condition and at Thomann prices for the combo, speaker and covers there is a saving of nearly 600 quid so effectively you're getting a free cab!

I could pack these up for postage but I would ask the buyer to organise shipping at their risk, alternatively I could do a "meet halfway" arrangement depending on distance and time considerations or collect in person from Swindon

    Price is ono.

  4. If you can wait until October, take a day out and head down the M5 to the Southwest Bass Bash, there will be all manner of 5 string instruments for you to try out. There's a thread on here somewhere from last years event which should give an idea what to expect. Other bashes are probably available, maybe even a midlands one. You won't find a better showroom!

  5. This was fitted to a bass I bought on here, which unbeknown to me, suffered from very occasional loss of volume and crackling. Not willing to risk issues at impending gigs, I bought a replacement from Mr East, as I was really impressed with the tonal quality. I subsequently had the unit checked by my local amp tech who cold find nothing wrong apart from perhaps a loose connection which he corrected. So now I have this surplus to requirements pre-amp which should be in perfect working order! I wouldn't sell it on without full disclosure I think £60 + postage a fair price given there may be a risk...... (No knobs I'm afraid)

Undo it and slide the black plastic part out of the housing.

You'll see a little screw. Undo that. Then slide the Red plastic thing out of the way. That will show you a spring underneath it.

    Remove the spring.

Then put the red bit back, put the screw back and stick it back together.

    Ta-DA!

Now it's just a regular jack socket without any locking nonsense.

    Thanks! Another option! 👍

I'm assuming this is one of the standard ones with the d-sized rectangular casing?  (like this )

If so then what you need is a d-sized blanking plate, THESE would do the trick (i just did a quick google i'm sure they could be found elsewhere)  then just cut a suitable hole to fit a regular jack socket in the centre of it.

    Matt

Now why couldn't I find that on google!

  8. Been dipping my toe into the wired IEM waters with a Behringer P2 and KZ earphones for a few gigs now with pretty positive results. It’s the usual DI from my amp into the desk and receive a monitor mix in my ears scenario but I wouldn’t mind a bit more control over hearing my own bass  rather than rely on the soundguy. I recently scored a cheap LD 1000 wireless on Ebay so I’m thinking about using the stereo capability to add a separate signal from my backline amp to the receiver in addition to the monitor mix I am receiving  and blend the two using the Focus mode If that makes sense. Assuming I’m not completely barking up the wrong tree here, how do I get a signal from my amp to the receiver? Can I use the line out or is there a way of splitting the DI signal?

I should really look into controlling my own mix with an iPad or something but I’m gonna have to learn a lot more before that becomes a reality methinks!

Since it’s unlikely I’ll be playing fretless live again in the future and it’s too nice to be hanging on the wall unused, I have decided to offer this delightful instrument for sale in the hope that somebody will enjoy playing it as much as I have.

It’s in really tidy condition, a few very minor marks perhaps but it has a beautiful straight neck, no discernible wear on the fretboard and it’s fitted with nylon flats. Truss rod works fine and a modified Allen key that fits the recess is provided. The volume and tone pots work fine without scratching although the tone pot feels like it has little turning resistance but in practice does not affect anything and it stays where you set it. Edge markers are positioned on the pitch if that makes sense. Oh and it’s got a thunderous B string! I'll leave the strap locks on and include a leather strap.

If you search for Jon Letts you will find that he builds superb quality instruments but his business had suffered from various problems in the past and tarnished his reputation perhaps, and as such, these bases can be had at decent prices. With that in mind I am offering this up at £450 which is very reasonable for a hand built custom instrument. For an additional £50 I'll include a top quality Fusion gigbag.

I would really like a potential buyer to try this bass  (I’m based in Swindon) but I could seek advice on insured postage funded by the purchaser if necessary or do a “meet halfway” arrangement.

I am out and about over the Easter weekend - Bristol on Good Friday, West Sussex on Saturday and Central London on Monday-Tuesday morning if it helps…..

    Letts custom fretless 5 string

    Bubinga front and back

    34inch scale

    Walnut neck and body sandwich

    Padauk out riggers and nut

    Indian rosewood fretboard

    Custom double blade passive humbucker

Volume/tone series parallel push pull switch

    Hipshot ultra light tuners

  10. Not exactly a Fender clone I know, but a perfectly lovely unlined 5 string Letts custom that I'm reluctantly considering letting go  seeing as my Status is not selling. £475
