4. I like the look of this but i wonder what the body was before. and i'm not sure about the slapping and tugging bit. it's just a hole in the scratchplate isn't it, or am i missing something.

  5.
And this might be one here:

CMI - branded EB copy, the pics don't give much away but CMIs on the whole tended to be decent quality. They sourced from a number of factories, I can't be sure but a 6-bolt plate might point to Moridaira. Body's not plywood, so that's a good start. The insanely high bridge does kind of suggest it's in need of a decent setup, though.

The nut at the G string looks odd, is that how they were made?

  6.
Don't know the answer Beer dragon.

But I phoned the Wizard chaps, described to them, as best I could the sound that I was after. They made their recommendations and fortunately it all worked out well. Pick ups arrived, I wired them in and...joy of joy, they worked and were exacctly what I was after.

    All the best, Gary
I might do that. i have had Wizard 84 on MIM jazz and they certainly made a difference. and thanks Thinman.

  7. Talking to a sound engineer about recording to my laptop he said never try plugging 1/4 and 1/8 into the mic channel in that you could do some serious damage to it. he sent me some links and this was the cheapest. still a little expensive but i might get one over xmas.

a little out of my price range for what i want to do.

  8. Showing my lack of PUP knowledge here. But are Bridge and neck P/ups wired the same? i wondered what would happen it say, asked Wizard Pickups for my own requirements. What i'm after really is a growl similar to a Warwick on a Jazz. i have a feeling it's Amp and Speaker i need to get it rather than Pups. anyone with some suggestions.?

  9. My band went into the studio about a month ago to record a backing track for this single. http://www.leaderlive.co.uk/news/80381/air...am-factory.aspx.

There four students plus the recording engineer doing the thing so had it done in a few hours. last week i had a phone call of our guitarist saying the bass track was unuseable due to it jumping so could i go in and do it again, no problem. i went in and nailed it on the second go, would have done it first time but for but for a wrong chord played by our guitarist which he didn't tell me about, completely threw me. don't know how that got left in. anyway just got a phone call from him again saying sorry but can i go in and do it again as the studio engineer took my piece home on a stick to finish on protools and there was nothing on there. :) He seems like a nice bloke and talks a good talk so it seems like one of those things. first time i went in i was nervous, second time i was ok. this time i'm going to be telling to get it right.
