Check out XTCs version of this on the album White Music.
No Disrespect to Mr H but this is my fave take on this track!

+1 to that. Its better than the original. This song has one of those timings that totally foxes me. Doesnt matter how many times I hear it I still cant get it beating in my head.

You can get a liquid, don't remember the name, which you can put on screws and they won't work loose.

I've seen Charlie Chandler use this so it must be a common luthier repair tool. I'd give a guitar repair shop a call and get some.

Its common enough stuff used for loads of things especially in automotive. Its called LOCTITE. Available in all good DIY or Automotive stores.

If you have a good old-fashioned hardware shop round your way, could you take in one of the other screws and get them to work out what size and type of thread it is (by trying different nuts on it)? It's probably a standard thread, maybe metric or UNF, so you may be able to at least get something that will do the job until you can track down an exact replacement.

Ah yes those dusty, dark old shops full of 'stuff' and manned by wise old men in brown coats. Bit thin on the ground around here Im afraid. There is a good music shop in the next town (Street, Im in Glasto) as mentioned by stoker above. Ill pop in there in a couple of hours and see what they can do once my hangover has subsided

Thing with this bridge is its a no name and it came from the US so I have no idea whether its metric or UNF. It is a different thread and diameter to standard bridge screws (Or is it technically a bolt? I can never remember. No its a screw since the thread goes the full length of the shaft but we digress).

4. This is where you're all going wrong :P - GHS Brite flats are NOT Flats. They are ground wound so they still have a bit of a growl of rounds but have the smooth and thumpyness of flats. To my mind they are perfect for fretless. But then I would say that wouldnt I :D So if you want to keep that low end thump and have more mwah the GHS's tick all the boxes on your fretless. And I see your dilema - 4 in line and 2+2 = Theres no going back!!

Finished it off yesterday and it worked pretty well! Went down the filler route in the end as I figured that veneers would be so much unneccessary time and hassle for what is a tear-up-a-£60-bass-and-see-what-happens kind of job. Got a tube of (rather suspicios looking...) darkwood filler from B&Q for the fret slots, left it to dry overnight and then sanded it off with a power sander - a few times over with 60p, then a couple of times with 100p, then a little 150p and finished off with a once over with wet and dry. Spent a good chunk of the afternoon sliding harmonics :)

Pics to follow...

Ha ha :D They are a bit addictive ;). Would love to see the pics. You ok with no lines but the side dots in the wrong place? I find them confusing.

I thought I'd post this picture from Lawrence of WIP on the body, it now has a 1mm epoxy cap on the top, this should stop any reaction between the tops vaneer and the final finish.

I really like the way the brown bits show through the staining and have high hopes it's going to be stunningly unique when finished.

Aha! I see now, it's because you placed an order, as opposed to a donation. Those go elsewhere for processing, hence no email from me. Of course we appreciate it just as much as a donation, but my workflow deals with those emails separately.

So, a big thanks from me for your order. I went to see Dave today and his back office is like a sorting room! He even went out specially to buy you a padded envelope yesterday :)

Cheers

OK I've just emailed everyone who donated to say thanks. Very kind of you all. We're almost able to pay Ben now for his time and now saving up to pay for the upgrade to the latest forum software that should solve one or two small bus around the place.

I also realised most of you are called Michael.

Cheers and please consider donating if you haven't done so yet, as it will go right back to your forum.

11. Grrrrrrr!

Snapped right off while adjusting my 5er Jazz. Thing is its not a regular size since its from a piezo bridge. Ive compared it to a standard fender / MM style cheapo one and while the fender/MM are the same this one is a fraction larger in diameter and looks like a different thread but with the same size head. It only needs to be about 1inch long.

Anyone help a guy out here? Or suggest a source?

Much apreciated in advance :D I love this baby! :(
