  1. Welcome to the best forum in the world ever. Look at it like this you could be wasting your money on food and council tax. Grandad Paul.
  2. Thank you for your replies. I am 63 years of age and have just joined my first band, would you believe. We are all around the same age and will be doing "small" local venues, so I will not require something to make the paint peel off the walls. We do a mix of Rock'n'Roll and Country and Western stuff. ( I can just see some of you curling up and screaming into a pillow). The requirement will be that I dont blow anyones hearing aid up, so you now have the full picture of what our gigs will be like. Dont you just wish you where me! I had looked at the Fender Rumble 150, and the Ashdown 15-180 Evo 11, and pretty well everything else around that type. I will admit I am now confused. Obviously weight will play a part as my muscles are'nt what they used to be. Do you think I should take up the harmonica. Seriously I would love your advice as you have more knowledge than I have. Grandad Paul.
  3. I have had a good look through the forum over the last couple of days, and have found it very interesting. I have specifically looked at peoples experiences with amps, and as is to be expected, "one mans meat is another mans poison". Just what do you all think is the best combo I could buy for £350. Give or take a quid or two. I would really appreciate your views on this. Thank you gentlemen. Grandad Paul.
  4. I think if you get the proper fixings for stud walls you could probably hang a Jumbo Jet on them. Not that you would want to I suppose. The point is though I think that anything is secure if you get the correct fixings. Grandad Paul.
  5. As a fellow newbie, Welcome. I got my Fender Jazz from E bay, and I feel I got a bargain. I was looking for about 2 months though, and I did miss one or two brilliant guitars by seconds. Grandad Paul.
  6. Thanks for the welcome. Thats very nice indeed. Regards, Grandad Paul.
  7. Hello Everyone, My name is Paul Miller, known as Grandad Paul, and I started playing the bass in 1963. Problem was I stopped playing it in 1965, and have been playing again for only the last 18 months. I am now 63. Yes I know I am a damn fool for waiting so long, but I could tell you reasons for another 20 years why I did'nt pick the bass up again, but none of them would make sense. I am having a whale of a time, and I am playing in a 60's band. Actually the reason we are a 60's band is because we are all over 60 years of age. My word we are having an amazing time. I have a 70's reissue Fender Jazz, made in Mexico, which my wife of 40 years insists I love more than her. I could not possibly comment on that. Look forward to getting to know you all. Grandad Paul.
