  1. It uses
    3xECC83 JJ'S
It has the Matamp mk2 preamp inside it.
It used to have only two tubes inside it and it was first made with the gt200mk1 pre inside it.
I got it rewired and got a new faceplate made for it as not only does it have more gain and bass than the mk1 it added the tube and middle knob.

Type in Matamp bass on youtube and you can hear it with a travis bean and the pa only.
I also had the back all modded.

you used to have to plug into the front and patch your amp to the back of the d.i. the volume from it was insane so i got a rotary pad added. and made the other inputs easy to read for pre out and power amp out.

The thru is at the front so you can patch in to the front of your amp. Plug in from the bass to the back input.

I have lot's of photo's of the first build to the final build.

  2. Yeah £1200 is a great price for a Matamp gt200 mk1. If peeps want a cheap amp then go get one.
A used gt200 is still better than new amps made from rubbish parts for more than £1200 so if you want to get a Matamp then £1200 is a great price.

  3. Go with 2 x 410's
also keep the 2x12 you have as miss matched gear looks great. if you sit the new gt200 on the flightcase plugged into the 2x12 then you have a wee monster of a rig and it still looks great.

you can always shift one of the 4x10's if you don't need it.

I love the design for the emperor 6x12 cabinets kicking around, i have thought about getting Matamp to make me a cab on the same setup but with tolex ect.

  4. When i tried one in the factory i was not 100% because i played through a 1x18 and 4x10 but they were very hifi sounding and the head was not in a sleave. When i got mine and blasted it through a 810 at practice it was perfect, I had a big smile on my face.

  5. If anyone who is In Scotland and near Glasgow can come try out my new Matamp gt200mk2. I don't have a cabinet at the moment so we can either go to a practice space or you can bring a cabinet. pm me your email if you are interested.

    this amp is a beast.

I also have photos of the new matamp mini bass with the handwired preamp and digital power section that i can email you.

  6. orange ad200b--I was recording with the ad200b the other week, it was real good and i know it's not as well made as a matamp they do the job if you have a good bass.

The Matamp mk1-- was perfect for me, point to point, kt88's. i was teching for a band the other month and he used the orange head and my matamp. he said the matamp just had more,
the gain is more natural. this makes the ad200b sound like a toy

the matamp mk2-- It makes the old one sound like a toy so it would just knock the orange out.
better and bigger transformers, bigger chassis, middle knob, more gain, cleaner output from bigger tubes-tungsol kt120's so that's 220 watts clean. the depth knob is more usable as all the settings on it sound great as the old one you could only use the setting with the most bass. it's a low pass filter and is great for recording for if your too boomy.
    handwired turret
gain is not on a rotary click knob and sounds much better if that's possible.
more bass to so it does more of everything.

Matamp is all custom and i took a chance selling a perfect amp but it had paid off.
if you got orange to handwire you a amp it would cost twice the amount. Matamp do custom tolex, front panels and you can tell them how you want the amp to sound and they can do it. They are the real deal and the customer service is spot on.
If i could Marry the company i would.

Orange ad200b was just a one night stand.

    Sorry for the bad spelling.
