Here's a nice piece with great video, of a pretty darn good bass player using iRig (and discussing his live rig that uses AmpliTube/Ampeg SVX too!)... Nice that he is another that coaxes signature tones out of iRig (like the Steely Dan guitarist we've got on YouTube doing those tunes too): [url="http://bit.ly/ny1pre"]http://bit.ly/ny1pre[/url] If you are not getting much signal, please do give support a shout out - our CTO who leads these projects is a bass player and I don't think he uses active pickups much so I'm thinking we'd be sure to get good signal from a bass with passive electronics. Interacting with a core app like iPod on these devices doesn't give you much leeway for sure. We'll work out what we can - heard some good things that are coming just a couple of hours ago. Well, we can't currently compare app or hardware, but we've definitely gone through a lot to make iRig the best choice for getting guitar signal into your iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch. Although it appears as a simple accessory, it is the result of many rounds of experimentation and a highly selective components selection. Many technical challenges were solved by IK's engineers before we were able to reach the best possible solution in terms of sound quality and usability. Oh, and we're shipping! Our first shipment had to be increased and production in general upped for the demand.

As for the adapter being simple, it is not just a simple pass-through and it does get the best signal possible into the device and app but yes I'm sure some could knock one up. Yes, we're open to ideas and I'll pass these along. I have to find out if 20 was arbitrary or some limitation of app size (if they are stored by the app, there may be some dev guidelines as to how much et)... Thank you and yes we're already evolving it as we speak.

Unfortunately if it was pulled in from the phone, it would be unplayable with the unbearable latency and to directly reencode it was not an available option unfortunately. If advances in the platform allow for it in the future, I'm sure we will.

Yes, the bass rig is an in-app purchase or in the Full. You have to import from your computer because the iTunes/iPod player is at 1024 samples which is excrutiatingly latency-inducing compared to our very low rate that allows for the low latency. So it needs to be imported that way. Otherwise you'd never be able to play along comfortably in time without wanting to rip your hair out.

The adapter is going to be shipped first come, first serve in very early July. That date is correct and we look to be on schedule for it.
