1. I use one (occasionally) on my bass, and it works absolutely fine - like the chaps say it works on the volume not the frequencies. I bought it over the Boss because it has the variable wave shape as well as square and triangle mode switch, more flexibility which really makes a difference in getting exactly the sound you want. If only it had a tap tempo it would be perfect - unfortunately I know of only the Line 6 and Seymour Duncan that have one without being ridiculously expensive.

  2. Yamaha's take on a tele for sale for a bargain of £75 for basschatters. It's a nice looking, simple reliable guitar that is perfect for beginners or as a backup axe. Similar sound options to a regular tele (same pickup configuration) but a bit smoother perhaps. A little lighter and slinkier than a fender/squier tele shape.

Pics available at the gumtree where its also for sale, basschat discount applies!
    http://www.gumtree.c...guitar/88756146

There is one scratch on the body (not shown on the pics, forgot about it). Sound/playing not affected at all and at this price you're not looking for an immaculate, brand-new guitar (or if you are, good luck!).

Pick up only though, as the gig bag really isn't up to being posted. Viewing/playing welcome.

  3. Hi there, got a few pedals for sale:

[s]Marshall Guv'nor 2 overdrive/distortion, the new shiny silvery one. A really nice sounding pedal, classic overdrive tones and pretty good on the bass too with plenty of low end via the 4-band eq controls. £30 posted to you. A bit scuffed and no box, but perfect working order.[/s] - Withdrawn, sounds too nice on the guitar!

SOLD ON EBAY: [s]Boss BF-3 Flanger pedal, with bass and guitar modes, tap tempo and 4 types of flange (Standard BF-2, Ultra, Gate/Pan and Momentary), stereo outputs and the regular flange controls (rate, depth, feedback and resonance). You can get some nice chorusy sounds as well as dark deep flange, a really good versatile pedal of Boss quality. £50 posted. In its box with instructions, v. good condition.[/s]

SOLD ON EBAY: [s]Aphex Guitar Exciter - everyone knows what the bass one does, gives you extra zing or thump from a box of magical tone fairies. This does the same thing for guitar, and also works reasonably well for enlivening your bass sound. Unfortunately it is not in perfect condition, as the cheap box and switches mean that while it works perfectly well when activated, the footswitch doesn't properly engage the bypass mode, so it is either on and sounds great, or you get only a tiny little sound that is good for nothing. However, bearing in mind that this is the type of pedal you won't turn off too often once you've set it, a knock-down price of £35 posted seems like a potential bargain to me![/s]

Feel free to offer trades: I'm looking mainly for a decent compressor, or a rich deep chorus (think CE-5 or similar rather than CEB-3). Plus cash either way as appropriate of course.

Pictures can be supplied if requested, or stock photos are freely available on t'internet.

Bank transfers, cash on collection or paypal all fine by me.

  4.
Do you mind me asking what sort of music you play?

I've thought about doing the same as I don't get on with 5ers but love the fretted low E.

    Cheers

    Blademan
Likewise, I enjoy the sound of the low D on a 5 string but can't replicate the tone through detuning an E string on a 4, and don't fancy adjusting to the neck width of a 5er. I mostly play gospel/country/modern rock-style stuff in a church context, where lots of music appears to be written in D, or worse Eb, and consequently I find I lose a lot of power from not having the low strings available for the upward I-IV-V chord changes (sorry to get a little theoretical) in choruses where you need a lift.

  5.
I have a hardly used set of Ernie Ball Power Slinky 5s which I shall be taking off my Warmoth Jazz V in a few days. They were put on to help put the bass together and have been used for about 45 minutes. The G string is knackered (due to my clumsiness) but the rest are ok. Their gauges are 70, 85, 105, 135 and are yours in a few days if you want them. Drop me a PM if you are interested. No charge. [EDIT: someone has taken me up on the offer now.]
Doh! Beaten to the punch, was just about to PM you. Thanks for the offer anyway.

  6. Hopefully a quick query for anyone who plays a 4-string BEAD. Are there any 'off-the-peg' BEAD sets available? Otherwise, does a heavy guage EADG set do the trick?

Or, does anyone know of any vendors that offer custom string guage combinations? So if I wanted a set of 65-85-105-125, they would put one of each in a bag and post them to me.

A bit of context: I have a Jazz strung EADG and an Ibanez that I want to string BEAD, and really want to avoid buying 5-string sets so I don't end up with loads of duplicate B and G strings... (keep it clean please).

  7. Thanks, indeed it is a bit slow. Perhaps I should have added a ; ) after the last post though. No ill will intended to other sellers/buyers, reading it back it was a bit of a gripe! Of course I can't expect basschat to guarantee me a buyer for my gear, and it is a great site.

  8. A couple of nibbles but it appears not a lot is moving here at the moment, or else just not for people looking at my stuff.

That Hartke pedal is a bargain though. If only I had the cash.

By the way I'll consider trades: ensemble-y chorus pedals, vibe-y effects, distortion/fuzz (bass big muff, xxl)... hit me.

Damn it basschat don't let me down, or I'll have to ebay. And who wants that? No-one, that's who. Same as who wants to buy my GT-6B. If that other one goes before mine I'll be well p!$$ed, Gator case or no.

  9.
I assume this went on ebay?
Well, I had the selling form ready, but in reciting all of the things you can do with it and the prospect of ebay and paypal fees I delayed selling it to have one more go. However practicality must triumph as I have a new arrival due soon and too little space, so it will probably go on before long.
