A friend of mine has a Protone Dead Horse overdrive. I don't think they're particularly cheap but I really like it.

Hi guys, I'm new here (although I've been reading the posts for quite a while) so hello... I've been after a good octave down pedal for a while and took a bit of a chance on this one and I must say I'm really happy with it. It sounds great and the distortion is really good too if you're into that kind of thing. Anyway, just my two pence. Looking forward to being involved in all the conversations here. John.
