1.
How to set up a bass.
    http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&sour...G=Google+Search
I'm going to go out on a whim here, half of those results will be crap... As someone who loves Google, I'd prefer not to trust every result that comes up from that search with items of great value...

  2. second vote for studybass.com , got to spend time and look at some of the info on here too, I'm spending time learning from http://www.amazon.co.uk/Learn-Play-Bass-Co...l/dp/1864692634 and it seems to be doing alot of good :) (in my opinion)
now learning theory, how and why I'm playing what I am, and (something you don't need) but the method to play...

  3.
Next time you look at a bass tab or learn a song by ear from a record, try to figure out what the chords are (or look at a guitar tab) and - again - see if you can see why the bass player is playing the notes he/she's playing and how they relate to the chords. This will help you create appropriate bass parts of your own.
Any sites with comparable (one on top of the other) guitar and bass parts? Seems like a good little exercise

  4.
I have invested quite a lot of time emulating Billy Sheehan's three finger technique, but my aim was never to sound like him; it seemed the most logical way to get up to the speed I needed to be at to play the music I play. It was definitely good for me in the long run, as I can now play at high speed for extended periods when required. Nowadays I try to pick and choose elements from a variety of other peoples' playing that I like, rather than going for one specific sound.
Like leebass before me said, this sums up what I hope I can do regarding my learning, taking things I get inspiration from and investing my time in learning all I can from it. No point reinventing the wheel, much more productive to develop the one already their :)
