My band does Slither - Velvet Revolver as well. Also Figure it Out - Royal Blood. Open Fire - The Darkness (off the latest album). Numerous Foo Fighters songs. Are You Gonna Be My Girl - Jet.

My singer won't do Slither, but it's great bass line (and a great song).. -
We also do "White Trash Millionaire" by Black Stone Cherry and "Get your Buzz on" by the Cadillac Three..
We're quite proud that the average age of our set list is about 15 years :-) -
we do ain't no rest for the wicked in this style.. works well..

My j-retro can be set very hot, but I prefer it a only a little louder than the passive setting. Big Singles here

This.
The newer solders are a swine to work with compared to the old tin/lead ones.

this +1.. Although you can still buy old style solder, it just can't be used in RoHS products.. -
sort of hard to make a judgement unless you have a detailed knowledge of the gain structure...
but it does appear that the general consensus is that the TH500 lacks heft.. -
Why do you let them tell you what bass to play ? :-) do you get to choose what they play ?

Looks like I'm about to be playing keys again...

i do use a looper.... see below
i have ....
Future impact
dod meatbox
moog boost
source audio manta
MXR envelope filter
Line 6 M5
MXR compressor
pretty much set up in that order, and i split the signal at the meatbox and send the wet down the chain and mix it it with an LS2 just before the compressor
all linked up to a joyo PXL looper/midi controller

Regardless, something in your setup is sucking tone... I'd take it apart and build it back up a pedal/device/patch lead at a time. -
Depends on the pedals - you can use a looper or have true bypass pedals, or a switchable effects loop on the amp.. All of which address the tone suck issue..

Have a look at the Vox amphones - apart from being a bit quiet I like them...

well that's you're opinion, we are going to have to agree to disagree
Indeed - and I always assumed that this would be the case - thus my initial "In my humble opinion"...
Of course the folkies would suggest my using electricity to make music is not "real music" .. :-) -

parts of it yes, it may shock you, but lots of big bands augment their sounds with backing tracks
I am entirely aware of this... Still does not make it live music... It may be a great experience, but so is going to the the flicks..

depends how you do it to be fair.
if we are talking some sh*t midi stuff downloaded from a website, then it will sound like kareoke.
if however the band have prerecorded everything themselves properly to create a wider sound for the band its not an issue. my band is currently a 3 piece, and we are considering recording everything ourselves and playing to backing tracks to include the sound of piano's, synths, strings etc which clearly we can't all cover on stage and generally we don't have stages big enough to fit the amount of people we'd need to get the sound live.
arguably you could say it takes a better band to play to backing tracks because everything needs to be in time, and sloppy, out of time or poor playing will show up.
the technology is there to allow us to create a bigger and more varied palette of sound on stage that 3 or 4 guys can't create alone. if it improves the stage show then i'm all for it.
So you're just playing along to your own record? :-) Why not go the whole hog and just mime ? It would probably make a better stage show... :-) -
Just reading the first post - is the AG500 class D or class A? :-)
-
I suspect I'm one of the militant ones - if you use backing tracks it's simply a type of Karaoke IMHO.. Or playing along to stuff on the radio :-)
Modern Rock Cover suggestions?

I've not heard this before - like it, is it well known?
BSC and Royal Blood good shouts too (thanks all for the input!)

The younger folk know it :-) Cage the Elephant are pretty well known... (Or Katie the Elephant as I originally misheard :-) )
