Please try and try one first though, I'd feel bad if you bought it on my recommendation and then didn't like it :)

  2.
as i said, thats what he does, along with hysteria
Yeah you did and I didn't say otherwise!

Kev - it is you who is getting a little confused between Hysteria and Time Is Running Out.

Time Is Running Out is multi tracked. The main track is a Roland JP-8000 synthesiser triggered by one of Chris' Bass Collection bases. Over-layered over that are bass riffs with different blends of amp and pedal distortion. The pedal distortion is blends of Sovtek Muff and Human Gear Animato.

Hysteria IS one of Chris’ Pedulla Rapture SB’s into one of his Deep Impacts into a Human Gear Animato. The album version is the same effected riff layered twice, with a final layer of clean bass.

I know this from personal conversations with MUSE, and Hugh Manson.

BTW: Kudos to you for being member 123. The only better number is 69. Or *maybe* 696
But I thought he used 7 Big Muffs! :)

Just for people who still like arguing over the point of Time Is Running Out:

How did you get the bass sound on that track(TIRO)?
    It's a bit of a cheat really!

Your secret is safe with me..
We tried for ages to get the right bass sound. Some of the things we tried were quite ridiculous. We tried flangers, acoustic basses, dubbing with phasers, you name it, but it still wasn't happening. One day Matt was fooling around with a JP 8000 synth and started getting this portamento vibe going (mimes track intro). So we recorded that and I put down a horrendously subby bassline using the pedulla and when we put them together it made a weird, buzzy, disgusting kinda noise and that's what we used.

What do you do about that live?
I play the line over the top of a synth backing track.

Don't really know about Hysteria but as Toasted does own/has owned a Deep Impact and an Animato, I'd be inclined to believe him.

    Yeah, well my Dad.....err....err....

Back at you with a million knobs on?

    :)

  6. I've got a Behringer rack tuner too, works fine, it tunes my bass so what else is there to say? Can't comment on how well it would cope with a low B as I don't have a five stringer but it copes in drop D.

  7. I'll agree with the people who have said that the Digitech BSW is the best octaver going, for the price. Has no problems tracking and sounds natural.

I do have problems with the other functions on the BSW though, they really do not track well at all with my bass. You'd think that a graphite necked, high output bass would track exceedingly well but I think perhaps the problem is that my bass is just too powerful for it. It's very odd. When I use my 6 string guitar with it it tracks well and sound really cool but with my Fleabass it's a total mess.

cause bassassassins behind your sofa and he cant hear me! GET OVER IT!
No, that was a serious question. I'm interested to see the logic behind people typing in capitals all the time. Why do you do it?

  9. I think a problem with the wiki is that it can be edited by anyone, I can see people getting upset by someone else changing what they've written. People might also miss the wiki, if it's a little button at the top of the page like it was on basstalk.

  12.
Has anyone tried the Nemesis NSP212?

I've had enough of lugging my Hartke 210 and 115 up four flights of stairs so I'm going to go lightweight.
I'm not mad about 410s, a single 15 is a bit too bassy, a 210 isn't bassy enough so is a 212 the happy medium?
I've got the combo version of the 2x12 so I can offer you some insight hopefully.

I think it's an excellent cab. For starters it's very light (and I have the combo version), it has deep handles on the sides and on the top and you could definately carry it on your own with not much hassle. It's even better with castors, which were supplied with my combo. I don't know if you get them with the cabs on their own though.

Sound-wise, it's very tight, articulate and well defined. Good over the whole spectrum, a happy medium between a 1x15 and a 2x10 I'd say.

  13.
Yes, each "amp" needs a 4 ohm load to work at full power.
    Cant be bridged.
Yeah and I think that's the reason why no-one bought them! You need two cabinets to squeeze what isn't even that great an output, which then raises the issue of 'what's the point in having a lightweight head if you need to lug around two cabinets to get a reasonable volume out of it?'

I think there's a 1000 watt version of it now though?

  14.
then why do i get great sounds out of it using my own settings?
If you get great sounds out of it with your own settings, what's the problem?

Other people's settings are made for their gear, not yours. Of course they will sound different.

  15.
I just need to sort out a Muse/Hysteria sound, has anyone tried the EHX Nano Metal Muff or the Tonefactor Huckleberry? I think Steve (TaySte_2000) has one? It looks like we all like the Korg DT10!
I like that board, it's simple but high in quality. *thumbs up*
