1. Had a go of one of these in Dolphin Music the other day, really cool bass! Absolutely killer for the price it's going for, very marmite though I can imagine.

Interesting that you mentioned the knobs on it because two of them actually pulled off when I turned them! Seems like such a silly problem to have when the rest of the bass is top quality.

I actually put the deposit down on it only for Dolphin to go and balls the whole thing up, but that's probably a whole thread in itself.....

  2.
New Piano Bass!!!

It may look like a grand piano and have 88 'keys' but don't be fooled this is the must have ERB. Featuring extraordinary playability via its unique finger tapping facility this instrument will allow you hit that double low F# while still playing that Bach Étude with your right hand five octaves above!

Warning! Do not attempt to play this 'bass' with a strap - please use the stool provided...

    :)
Also comes in a handy ebonised birch carry case, complete with wheels :)
Collection from Wirral or Stafford would be preffered but I'd be willing to ship at your expense. Should be about a tenner or so using senditnow
:)

  4. Continuing with my gear clearout, here's my Alesis DM5 Pro electric drum kit:

Not much to say except this is a very cheap electric kit with actual skins rather than those horrid rubber pads that you would normally get. Ideal for someone who wants something to have a mess around on (like me) or if you want to lay down some tracks in the studio. The drum brain itself is a quality piece of kit in its own right and can connect to your computer via MIDI

It's in full working order although the skins have seen a bit of action. Comes with mapex kick drum pedal, sticks and a little rudiments pad. Looking for £150 for this, collection from Wirral or Stafford.

    Cheers, any questions please ask!

  5. For sale are my Tapco S5 monitors and matching sub. Fantastic sounding speakers and the only reason why I'm getting rid of them is due to the thin walls of my new house :)

Am looking for £200 for the lot which I think is a fair price given that these would've cost at least £400 new :) Comes with all the leads/power cables and I may even be able to dig out the manuals!

Postage is possible but collection more than welcome from either the Wirral or Staffordshire.

Cheers for looking, any questions just ask!

  6.
See, told you I wasn't a fan, I couldn't even spell his name :)

I still knew he never played one and Alembic SHOULD be going mental over this
You'd imagine that a large company like Dean will have taken the appropriate advice over the designs :)

  7.
Spotted these the other week.

    I don't get it.

    Boo.
Nothing compares to this monstrosity:

The GIBSON Jimi Hendrix signature model :)

It seems his family will put his name on anything. There's a Jimi Hendrix vodka brand for gods sake!

  8.
Flea's another that pops into my head for example. The guy used a 'ray into GK for a long time and that was his trademark sound, then he seemed to get bored and start swapping about basses on whims. It must be incredibly frustrating for a company like Modulus to make a bass that they even name after an endorsee, then they jump ship soon after.
Don't think that's a fair comparison really, the only signature model that he's had was his modulus and he was with them for ages. And he only ended up with them after Musicman wouldn't give him his own one. I doubt modulus would complain really, they'll have shifted so many basses due to his name attached.

I singled out Mark King becuase he's had signature basses from Alembic, Status, Fender and Jaydee plus Ashdown amps. Just seems excessive!

  9.
and this is why all this talk of renewable energy and electric cars is wishful thinking at the moment, someone did a calculation to work out how much neodymium there currently is that is recoverable and how much would be needed to create enough generators and motors to support current levels of industry and civilization. The answer was "no where near enough" and it's all in china, one of the most heavily militarised counntries in the world. you'd think I'd be more bothered about this than the price of a cab wouldn't you?
I'm glad you've said this. I'm sick of having to explain this to ignorant eco-types, it's really not just a simple case of building wind farms and job done. Also see lanthanum and your toyota prius battery.

And then there's the radioactive waste generated during the extraction of the lanthanides, funny how no-one ever mentions that!

  10.
They are definitely basing this product at the yoof market.
Looks very tacky if you ask me. Does the 'yoof' at the moment have the sort of dosh burning holes in their pockets to get one of these?
