1. Hey guys,

Pretty much what it says on the tin.

I've got a stingray body knocking around from an old Harley Benton bass,

And seeing as I can't afford a real stingray bass I decided that I was going to build one instead :)

I need to know where I could pick up a musicman 5 stringer neck from!!

Where would the best place to pick one up?

And what do you guys recommend for electrics in it?

And bridges? Where can I pick them up?

    Regards

    Tj

  2. Hey fellas,

I've been gassing over a musicman stringray for quite a while now,

and I wanted your opinion on something,

I was wondering what your thoughts are on the 'Sterling' musicman ray 34?

does that seem like a good place to start for getting a stingray?

or should I hold out and save abit more money up a decent sub if there knocking around?

and nothing for defo yet as Im still trying to sell my squier vintage modified jazzy b :)

    Cheers

    TJ

  3. I was 13 jamming with my mate and dad (we eventually became a band) i was on guitar at the time, friend was guitar and my dad was on bass, my dad put down the bass and let me have a go! and played it and played the song i was trying to play on guitar on bass and nailed it :) and now 18 my love of bass has grown to into passion and cant get enough of it :)

  4.
Wow - no, I've never had an ounce (UK= gram?) of trouble with anything on it yet.

Let me also put a short scale up for brightness and clarity of the three Squiers I now have.

With the deepest and least crystalline tones : the Squier P bass.

With the tightest MIDs and still a lot of thump : The VM-Jass

Brightest tone of all and even has serious low-end rumble ; VM-Jaguar.

All three are different by quantum levels for voicing and timber.

Output power is another consideration. The Jag has the most power output according to where I have to set the GAIN of the amp.

The VM-Jazz is next and the P comes in last, but still honks although in a somewhat different way.

I'd say that the Jag has about the same passive output as a weak active bass.
Ahh right, Maybe I've jus got a bad one I guess, Alittle unfortunate but what can I do hey :)

  5.
What about this one?

I think I may have fallen in love alittle with that bass!!

  6. Did you happen to have any trouble with the pickups?, Because mine kept failing and it was cutting in and out at gigs!
so I have had to replace them with the pickups that came out of my jazzy b deluxe!

  8. hey munkonthehill

I had one for a short while and didnt like it that much it was really neck heavy and use to give me back ache

and I found the pickups really weak in them too i put a wilkingson pre amp in there to boost the output a little which did help alot.

    cheers TJAS92
