Playing Stagg EUB with bow

Hi, I am new to this forum and am thinking about buying a Stagg EUB. Just wondering if it sounds good played with a bow.

I've never played an upright bass but played cello years ago. I am not really looking for a clasical bass sound and will probably end up (if I buy one at all) playing through various FX pedals. Any thoughts very welcome. Thank you.

I've tried playing arco on someone else's Stagg EUB. From memory, I think the sound was ok, but the strings seemed closer together than on a standard double bass, and the arch of the bridge less pronounced, making bow technique quite a bit trickier than usual.

I would advise trying before you buy.

Thanks. I've just ordered a Stagg so will try it out, pizz and arco, when it arrives. At only £313 it's worth the risk!

I find my Stagg 4-string EUB spacing no different to my AUB, the arch isn't that different either and it bows fine. My modified Stagg 5-string bows fine too even with the strings a tad closer together on the same arch.
