+++ OOPS! Just realised I've posted this in the wrong section! I'm gonna post it again in the For Sale section. I'm a total noob and couldn't work out how to delete :) . So if any mods want to delete this one then feel free! +++

Hi all,

I've got a full size (4/4) approx. 130 year old double bass for sale. I bought it in Prague when I didn't know much about basses and it's just too big for me! Also I now have a very portable 3/4 Yamaha SLB200 electric upright so it never gets the use it deserves. It could do with a new fingerboard & bridge and it's had extensive repair work done (see pics) but it sounds absolutely gorgeous. Here are the details:

4/4 German double bass circa 1880.
Flat back with a viol shape.
Back and ribs are a medium flamed maple.
Front is a wide grained spruce.
Hat peg machines.
Chesnut brown varnish.

Measurements:
Length of back - 111.5cm
Top bout width - 55.8cm
Middle bout width - 39.0cm
Bottom bout width - 68.0cm
String length - 110.0cm

Estimated value (for insurance purposes) - £3,500 but I'm open to offers. I'll also throw in a gig bag and a stand which are worth a couple of hundred quid.

Valuers - Malcolm & Jane Healy Violins, Sutton, Surrey.

Thanks,

Sumbabba
