Aussiephoenix Posted July 28, 2009 Share Posted July 28, 2009 Lately I've discovered a love of modding cheap basses, and since Im not going to mod ze zadowsky... I had a precision body laying around (given to me by a fellow BC'r) to which I added a maple Jazz Neck and: 1x Wizard Thumper precision Pup 1xno-name musicman humbucker (not a bad one) 1x Aguilar OBP-3 That's alive and kicking (quite a lot, lol), but recently, I took advantage of another mate's misfortune. He was still a budding bassist, but in a work accident broke both his wrists, and he didnt recover well enough to keep playing, so I took his Squier Jazz 5 Deluxe. Now, even stock, this doesnt seem to be the average Squier... Quite a nice acoustic sound on it, confortable to play, etc. So, after changing the metals on it (Bridge string retainer, etc.) There's a Pair of Nordstrand 5's heading my way for it, too Im left looking at my preamps, to figure out what to put in it... I have an Audere Z coming with those nordstrands, but I also have the Aggie from the Frankenstein... What do you guys think would go better with the Nordies? ps.: my other bass is a Sadowsky Tokyo 5, so I'd want to get a diferent sound from this Deluxe...
