MXR M87 Compressor not registering Musicman Stingray

Why has my MXR M87 bass compressor suddenly stopped registering my MusicMan stingray bass? The meter is completely dead but there’s s sound, whereas another passive bass - a Jack Casady - works fine and the meter lights up like a Christmas tree? I’ve tried the Stingray with a completely fresh battery but it doesn’t make a difference.

Hi there. No I haven’t, but I’m suspecting that it may be a lead issue on my pedalboard, as there’s some noise and interference going on when I stomp on certain pedals. Now that I’ve got a break I’m going to take my board apart and will check each lead and pedal.

I’ve now had a chance to check all the leads going into my pedals and the issue remains. I’m stumped.

I’ve found the issue. The black wire on the battery compartment has become detached. It’s far too fiddly for me to solder, but at least I now know what it is and it’s not a major problem.
