How to troubleshoot a battery drain (Spector NS5CR)

Hi there,

I have a issue with my '90s Spector NS5CR (Emg 40DC with the EMG BTS preamp, soldered, 9V).

Well, it's started to drain my battery really fast, even if unplugged. How can I troubleshoot it?

Any hint? Do you guys need pictures of the electronic cavity?

Do you have a DMM (Digital MultiMeter)? If yes, start measuring from output jack.

here it is, not really sharp, but I will check the jack with a DMM asap:

Take the other half of the battery from the contact, and measure the current from the open contact. Should be zero.

Shall I pull out just one button of the battery and measure the current from the open contact and from what other point?

From the battery and the open battery snap. Then you can see, whether there's any leak.

I'm just asking out of curiosity but is that to check if the battery connector is shorting? Or would that check if there's a short in the circuit as a whole?

Short in the circuit. When the bass is unplugged, no current should be visible.
