JapanAxe Posted April 18 Posted April 18 (edited) I have for now abandonned the idea of adding more switching options to my D-Roc. Instead I tackled the issue that was more pressing to me - I can never remember how I last left the rotary selector switch! So I popped off the metal knobs and replaced them with push-on chicken-head knobs as pictured above. Now I can instantly see (and just as importantly, feel) where the selector is set. Result. *Apologies to Frank Zappa and Ike Willis. Edited Tuesday at 21:23 by JapanAxe Imgur shat the bed 2 Quote
simisker Posted April 21 Posted April 21 Many, many bass manufacturers give no thought to their instruments' user interface, and sadly Dingwall are no exception. Congratulations on solving a problem that Dingwall couldn't be arsed to solve for themselves 👍🙂 Quote

Also further improve'lences: (1) Changed the tone cap in my D-Roc from 47nF to 100nF for more range on the tone pot. (2) Added a passive tone control to my NG2. At first I tried a dual concentric volume and tone but it never looked right (wrong finish for a start) and was fiddly. Then I fitted a push-push pot to engage a dark tone by shunting the output to ground via a 47nF cap. This meant leaving the knob sitting well clear of the body or else it wouldn't work. I didn't care for that, so I fitted a push-pull pot instead - the knobs are plenty grippy! Here it is with the passive treble cut engaged: 2 Quote
