Hartke HD500 speaker damage?

Hello! Few weeks ago, at the end of our rehearsal, I started to smell some kind of burning smell from the upper part of the front of my Hartke HD500 combo. Right after that, I turned the combo off.

After the incident, the electronics were checked the way it was possible and it seems that there is not any kind of "burning damage". The cooling fan was also checked and it started to work after a while.( It seems like it starts at a defined temperature but let me know if I am wrong.)

The sound quality was also checked and it seems that it is much louder at the level I used before that, but there is a distortion.

If the sound level is lower, the distortion disappears and the combo has a better, clear sound.

Is here anyone who had similar problem and know how to solwe it? Could it be a speaker damage?

Thank you for your help!

I'm sorry that no one has replied to your post. Could it be that you were too loud for a pair of tens to handle?  As you get louder the speakers have more work to do. it is also possible that the amp itself was struggling and getting overly hot whist doing so. If your amp has a socket for an external speaker cabinet perhaps adding another pair of tens might help the situation.. Worst case take the amp to an amp doctor for a heck up.
