For sale (no trade offers please) is a 2016/17 right handed long scale Fender MIM Precision bass in Arctic White with rosewood fingerboard, with upgraded pickups and wiring.

Before I go any further, as I know this is important to many of us, this bass weighs a reasonable 4.0kg (8.8 lbs) on my digital luggage scales - a touch more than the Player P’s I’ve had, but less than every USA P bass I’ve had. It balances well.

It’s in excellent condition and has clearly been looked after. There are no dings, paint chips, chunks out of the back of the neck, etc, just a couple of tiny what I guess you’d call scuffs on the body which are nigh on impossible to see / photograph. It has a nice dark rosewood fingerboard on a ‘tinted satin urethane’ finished maple neck. The board was lemon oiled in September 2023. The neck has the usual 1.625” P nut width, but has a very slim neck front to back, measured with digital calipers as 0.802” at the 1st fret and 0.886” at the 12th fret. It’s the slimmest Fender P bass neck I’ve played, and is nice and fast with the satin urethane finish. It’s effectively a ‘Slim C’ neck profile though isn’t spec’d as such.

The Arctic White colour is very nice, closer to the cool white of the Player ‘Polar White’ than a creamy ‘Olympic White’. Strung with 45-105 medium gauge GHS Boomers (M3045) nickel rounds with plenty of life left in them. Stock open gear tuners and bridge.

Pickups have been upgraded to the excellent Fender Custom Shop CS62. Box included though it’s a bit tatty. Wiring upgraded to USA specs, to a KiOgon loom (CTS pots, Switchcraft Jack, 0.047uf capacitor), with 1/4” chrome knobs to fit the pots. It was a solderless loom, but has since had the bridge wires fully soldered on. Please note I no longer have the stock pickups and wiring. Not that you would need them as it sounds great as is. Fantastic full range of tones compared to the stock pots.

Bought from a fellow Basschatter Summer 2023, this is a semi reluctant sale as this is a very nice bass. I just marginally prefer my Player P bass and think I’ll always favour a maple board, so am moving this on. It’s a great colour combo, with 3-ply BWB plate on, and a 3-ply WBW plate will be included too. Both are aftermarket ones as far as I can tell but fit ok.

There is no bag or case included in this sale, but I have a good quality box and packing from when I received it. Collection is possible from Southport. I work near St Helens, so could meet in that area or somewhere in the North West within reason. Price is including postage, so there will be a discount if collected. Otherwise I will post to a mainland UK address only, using Parcelforce 24 hour next day, fully protected delivery, with live tracking available on day of delivery. I should be able to post within 1 working day of payment being received, depending on my work shifts. I would rather post it Mon to Thurs, so it’s not sat in a depot all weekend.

It is sold as seen, with no tools or inspection tag. Serial number shows 2017, I have run it through the Fender serial number check and it shows as registered March 2017 - see photos. MIM basses moved over to Pau Ferro boards not long after this, so here is your chance to get a nice dark rosewood board.

I paid £425 for this here a few months ago, and have spent £145 on upgrades (pickups £100, wiring loom, pots & knobs £45). It’s in exactly the same condition I bought it in and hasn’t been played much. I think £520 is a fair price for a great condition P bass with top upgrades.
