Advice - achieving synthbass sound on Jamiroquai's Canned Heat

It's a bit tricky because there's a filter sweep used, but it's only triggered occasionally, so if you were using an envelope filter you'd have to be really careful about your playing dynamics and set the filter's sensitivity pretty low. The EHX Bass Micro Synth would be a good solution, it could cop that tone, and do the filter triggering easily too - there's a trigger threshold for its sweep, rather than it being envelope-following, so it's more predictable and controllable and keyboard-sounding.

Alternatively you could do it with a Boss OC-2 (or similar fat-sounding analogue octaver), any semi-subtle filter with a sensitivity control, and something to provide a little dirt between the OC-2 and filter to give that bit of colour when the filter starts to open. But you'd have to be quite disciplined with your picking hand.
