Dodgy old Jazz neck...

Hi All,

New to the forum and have been spending a lot of time watching the classifieds...

I've got a 1978 Jazz which is for me the iconic configuration, sunburst body with maple neck and mother of Pearl block inlays. Unfortunately it's also suffering from a classic 1970's Jazz bass problem, in that when the truss rod is tightened, what actually happens instead of the neck straightening is that the wood under the zero fret block inlay is getting pushed up and as you can see in the photo, the inlay and the fingerboard have cracked.

I'm gutted because this bass looks and sounds incredible, and is 100% original. It's just a bit of a dog to play.

If I have to get a replacement neck then that's a chunk of money and the bass is suddenly worth a lot less than I paid for it, so I'm hoping one of you nice people is going to say, "oh yes, that happened to mine and it's totally repairable"...
