Looking for a 5-string...

Hey

I've only ever played 1 5-string so I'm hesitant to post but I have had a lot of fun with the yamaha bb605. Pretty easy to play and sounds good too. I always found the b to be a bit dull but that could have been anything from my amp, technique, strings or ears.

I realise it is a pretty useless recommendation seeing as it is the only one of played so ymmv

Thanks

Rich

If you want to buy new then my rec, as ever, is the Ibanez SR505BM. Nice woods, useful pre-amp and very playable.[/quote]

Just what he said.

Also, the Rockbass Streamer Standard. The clarity and definition of its B string is hard to find even on expensive basses.

Soundwise those 2 are the best cheap 5stringers I have ever played.

+1. The SR500 series is the best value for money out there at the moment, provided you like the narrow string spacing and skinny neck. The Ibanez ATK305 is a good bet aas well.
