clear lacquer ?

I'm in the process of doing my first re-finish. Using acrylic colour spray paint. Getting the colour on seems OK, but I know I need to (and would like to) finish with a hard-wearing clear coat. I have searched and searched but everyone just seems to use the term "clear lacquer". What exactly is this mythical stuff ?

Halfords do a clear acrylic based lacquer .....

Or there's a polyurethane varnish, like this ....

Or there's nitro-cellulose ??

I'm not after a perfect, perfect finish, but would like an easy to work with product, as it is my first time.

Would appreciate your thoughts.

Thanks.
