Now SOLD

For sale is my fairly newly aquired Retrovibe RV4. I have been dabbling in Musicman-pickup type basses recently, but have simply decided that I love P basses and that's that, so I want another P, or PJ.

Since I bought this bass from LowEndBee I have added the rather cool go faster stripes (which will come off if you would rather it without), have changed the bridge pickup to a Seymour Duncan Basslines SMB-4d (a quite considerable sonic upgrade IMO), and added a mini toggle for series/parallel/single coil switching for this pickup. The standard Retrovibe neck pickup on this bass already had a control added, allowing series humbucker or single coil use. So with all these coil switching and pickup combination options, you can see that this bass is a bit versatile. It actually sounds great, and does a good impression of a range of other basses.

The nut width is 42mm, but the neck is relatively shallow (front to back) so is not too much of a handful. I find it very comfortable actually, and I often do struggle with large nut widths on other basses. Weight is somewhere between 3.5 and 4kg (I do not trust my bathroom scales to be any more accurate than that). The neck is straight and the truss rod works perfectly. It is set up perfectly for my rather heavy handed technique. Intonation is perfect. There are no dead spots. Fretwork seems good and there is minimal fret wear. The sharks teeth on the fretboard are proper inlays. Pots, Switch and Jack have been replaced with Switchcraft ones.

There are a couple of marks around the body of the bass. Nothing hugely significant, except for one noticeable ding right on the edge of the front side, right under where your right arm would sit, which is now beautifully covered up with one of the stripes (shown pretty clearly in one of the pics). As a whole the bass looks very smart.

I cannot post pics of the headstock here for legal reasons, but rest assured it is of the typcial "classic 70's bass" type. I will be happy to email anyone pics of the whole bass pics, including close ups of the headstock front and back.

Need to sell now to help fund a new precision bass purchase.

Price for a sale is £235 posted to your door within mainland UK. Sorry no trades.

OK, here's the pics ....
