Amp/Cab suggestions

Hi guys, i'm currently looking to change my rig but having a bit of a tough time deciding what to do.

At the minute I have a Trace Elliot AH500 with matching 2x10 and 4x10 cabs (all the newer ones since Peavey stepped in a few years ago) and my main bass is a Warwick Thumb 5. I've joined a function/wedding band in the last year and so i'm playing much bigger venues to the pubs and social clubs I used to do. The Trace sounds ok but i'm finding that when I push it it's not got enough bottom end and fullness, especially in the higher registers and with any of my basses (Warwick SS1 and Bubinga Corvette), it's not just the Thumb which sounds thin. I'm looking for the trademark Thumb sound - low mid growl, fairly bassy but still able to cut through 2 guitarists and a loud drummer. The eq on my Trace is:

+3db at 100hz, 500 hz and 1khz;
+6db at 250hz;
everything else flat;
compressor set at 45-50%.

This sounds fine at low-medium volumes but loses the bottom end when turned up to be heard over the rest of the band. As a band we try and push the backline as much as we can without drowning out the drummer and feed vocals and small amounts of whatever else is needed through the pa (plus i've never really liked the sound I get from a pa, I tend to lose my tone and it ends up to smooth and round which is not what i'm looking for).

I recently tried an Ashdown BTA 300 through a 4x10 Ashdown cab (I think it was the ABM series) and pretty much nailed the tone I was looking for and I was seriously considering getting the amp. However this was in a small practice room in the shop and I likely wont have chance to try the amp out on a gig before buying to see if its really as good as I think. So, after all that, my options are:

Ashdown BTA with 2 4x10 cabs;
Ashdown BTA with some sort of Barefaced cab;
Keep the Trace head and get a Barefaced cab:
Any other options you guys can suggest.

Thanks and sorry for the wall of text :)
