This has stopped my quest for piccolo happiness in it's tracks. I need some stainless steel piccolo strings that are cheap enough - I did look at these - http://garrygoodman.com/Bass%20Guitar%20Sets.htm but the shipping from the states (to mainland UK) brings the overall price to about $60.
