It allows up to eight pedals to be (true!) bypassed and then selected as necessary giving you virtual mult-effects with one foot selection. I still have the box and original PSU for the switchers. The Commander is phantom powered. I used this to keep my pedals and switchers off the floor back stage in a rack and control with the Commander.
