Im getting a new bass as in first bass and i have the choice of a LTD EC 104 , Washburn XB120 and if im lucky an Epiphone Les paul special bass

That's the LTD http://bass-guitars.musiciansfriend.com/pr...itar?sku=516178

That's the Washburn http://www.guitar.com.au/guitars/bass/washburn/XB120.htm

and of course the Epiphone http://www.epiphone.com/default.asp?Produc...CollectionID=12

I'm really a beginner when it comes to Basses, plus i'll mostly play rock and some metal on a side

Of those three I would pick the Washburn, although the other two are nicer looking IMO, because basses with no upper cutaway (apart from the awful boutique Dugong-looking monstrosities that the jazzers like wearing these days but you're not looking at buying one of those) tend to sit a bit uncomfortably on the strap - the lowest positions are a long way away and will be quite a stretch, especially for a beginner.

If I were you I would get a bass where the strap attaches above the 13th or 12th fret, purely for comfort reasons.
