3/4 German Double Bass Circa 1875

Recommended Posts

As you can see from the photos, the bass has just undergone major restoration including repair of cracks, strengthening/bracing where required. It has also had a new bass bar, tailpiece, bridge, soundpost and endpin, re-shooting of fingerboard. The work cost £2500 and is fully guaranteed by Colin Cross in Buxton. The bass has literally just been put back together so I don't yet have any photos of it in one piece. However, I can get some if required. It is currently in Buxton violin shop but I intend to bring it back to Manchester next weekend if anyone would like to try it out.

The bridge is currently set up for arco but this can be lowered for jazz for no extra cost. There is also a fishman full circle (worth £200) thrown in (although this hasn't been fitted).

UPDATE: Just got the bass back from the luthier and it looks and sounds amazing. Very resonant and feels extremely sturdy. I have added some pictures.
