MOTU 828 mk 2 firewire audio interface[sold pending payment]

Recommended Posts

Thought I'd offer this on here before I put it on the bay. High-end audio interface, used by loads of famous people. I did have a fancy laptop setup that I used this and it was great but the laptop's knackered now and I've only been using it as a basic sound card with my desktop PC so I'm going to downgrade to a PCI card instead.
Very interested. How many tracks can be recorded simultaneously?
And what Programs does it work with?

Cheers
Works with any program you want afaik. It's got 2 mic/instrument inputs on the front, 8 analogue line ins at the back so that's 10 tracks simultaneously, then it's got digital input as well so if you wanted to input more mics you could get a mic preamp with digital outs like this one and get another 8 inputs (I think you can add more than that using s/pdif but that's loads already)

Does it come with the mixer software?

ANd just to clarify, does it record each track seperately, or does it record to a pc by mixing down the tracks?

Sorry to be asking lots of questions.

If your looking for a replacement , If i buy this, Id have a small usb breakout m-audio fast track usb I would no longer need.
Works brilliant as a soundcard and 2 track digital recorder.

I'm not too sure what you mean by "mixer software", the drivers come with a program to change all the levels/routing of the ins and outs, and you can do it with the knobs on the front as well - it actually works as a standalone mixer as well, I often play bass through my monitors without turning on the PC. As for recording software, It came with Audiodesk, the MOTU recording program for mac, I think I've got the CD here but I'll have a look round later. Doesn't come with any software for PC though :)

Yes it's got 10 separate inputs and you can record from them all simultaneously. Loads of people have these in their studios, the only band I can think of right now is Scissor Sisters but there's lots more.

Gonna have to pass on the usb interface, I'm looking to get a PCI card. Any more questions just ask.
