The 25hz hum has become a lot more bassy and deep with the same amp setting going through the cab so I assume the woofers are loosening up nicely, my missus said it sounded like a Chinook helicopter in the distance from where she was (upstairs) .

I am running the 25hz sine wave through it, I thought it would be noisy, shows how much I know

I am suffering extreme torture
I had my new Super Twelve T delivered earlier, wow, that must be awesome you may be thinking, all I can do is look at it until 2pm as my missus has had a moan about me playing it in the house (again !!) why are families so intolerant to someone having a bit of fun, roll on 2pm when she goes out then I can have a play
First impressions, great care has been taken with the packaging, 10/10 for that, it definitely has the wow factor in my eyes with its silver cloth front and white piping, just how I like it
It feels very well built and is sooooo light, it could easily do without the wheels but I like to be spoilt !, the top handle is in the right place for rolling the cab about .
I like the crinkly paint finish, nicely different to the usual ripping tolex or cat scratch carpet !
I had a quick play and it sounds really good, cant wait for the woofers to break in so I can really hear it

I got my camera out to take some pics but the battery was flat, will post them later

I should recieve my Super Twelve T this saturday, have any of you guys broken the woofers and tweeters in using the `sine wave` method ?
If so, how long for and at what levels, did you gradually increase the level and did you use all the `sine waves` ?
Or is it simply good enough to just play the cab gently at first then gradually bringing the volume up to your usual level ?

I am asking as my family will be in the house all weekend and I know what will happen if I play the sine waves loud for long periods

At one stage a few years ago, most of our songs were covers of songs by dead artists !

Theres a different theme for someone - could call the band `Covers of the Dead` !

In my experience, most audiences want to hear a mixture of sounds, if you play a good variation of songs then you have more chance of giving them what they want and going home happy .
One thing that does turn an audience off sometimes is an endless supply of meaningless long guitar solos that do not resemble the song being covered, I would think many of you guys are familiar with that situation, that is one reason I choose songs that do not have much scope for too much guitar over indulgence !!

My first band was a blues band and after an hour or so, many people turned off and left the pub bored !

`Middle of the road` is possibly the best place for a typical covers band

I dont know about the Fender but I do know that my PF500 has a fantastic set of tones, a really great sounding amp which should really sing with the Super Twelve, fingers itching with anticipation

The Barefaced family is growing and will soon dominate the world of bass cabinets - be warned

I should get my Super 12T next week, cant wait, all the praise has got me quite excited

I have played some tiny places as a 4 piece, sometimes a nightmare trying to stop feedback with so much gear in such a small area, we are now a 3 piece which is much easier with one less guitarist`s gear, we had the lead guitarist on drummers left and myself and rhythm guitar on other side, I kept whacking him with my headstock !

Aaaargh, my anticipation is reaching fever pitch, hope you enjoy your Barefaced cab
I had a bass lesson with an owner of a BF compact today and that was a nice cab, the births of my kids did not give me as much anticipation as the impending delivery of a Super twelve T

I too will annoy the wife by breaking it in with Eastenders on telly, sine waves are much more interesting

Steve, I like your avatar, one of my favourite bassists was in Dead Kennedys

Stuart Morrow was a great bass player with NMA, Moose also did some songs with the Damned on `not of this earth/Jack and the beanstalk` which is a great album IMO, NMA have always made great songs, `thunder and consolation, purity and ghost of cain` are also fave albums of mine` they are a very unique and individual band, it would be awesome if someone from this site got the job

I last saw them at The Brook in Southampton in March 2010 and they were excellent, they certainly did not lack any `edge`, they played a lot of the latest album at the time `today is a good day` and have to say I was impressed by their playing and energy .

I envy whoever gets the job, I have seen NMA a few times and they are a very exciting live band, good luck

I try to learn a song pretty close to the original if I can, the secret IMO is in choosing songs within your ability level, being the singer/bassist gives you a bit more control over music choice .
I also play about with some songs that are simple or just hang on the root notes throughout, a few runs in between always spice things up and stop things getting boring
At the moment my favourites are;

Stuck in the middle -stealers wheel
Up around the bend-credence
Should i stay or go-clash
I fought the law-clash
Mystery train-elvis
My generation-who
Substitute-who

We do play one song that deviates completely though, that is `baby please dont go` by `them`, we tend to jam it as we feel fit at the time, audiences do like a bit of improv at times !

We also make up a few medleys of songs with a similar beat or feel, take `the last time` by the stones and `whatcha gonna do about it` by the faces, they flow into each other nicely without stopping, we also 3 sex pistols songs without stopping and it always surprises me how popular the pistols songs still are

I like the bass on the `no rest for the wicked` album, very good lead bass style and extremely catchy lines, worth a listen by any bass player into good rock music .
