Thanks for this! Just did this fix myself - bought one off ebay and swapped the chip for another TLC2262. A question for those that went the AD822 route: Did this different chip make any difference to the sound or characteristics of the compressor?

I can't say that I noticed any difference, personally.

Off topic I know, but the TC Electronic Spectra Comp in my opinion is an absolutely astonishing pedal, and it can actually be used as an amazing subtle tone sculpting pedal too, along with compression, if that is what you want, depending on how you set the crossover, makeup gain, mix and compression parameters for the 3 bands.

Personally I very much has taken advantage of this, it just give me the final tiny touch needed to tonal perfection, actually having set it to a fairly subtle compression with some uncompressed signal blended in, it having very little effect on my playing dynamics (though definitely adding a nice amount of punch, snap and bite), but, even if also relatively subtle, a, to me at least, quite essential impact on my tone (I believe though it should be possible to still dial it in in a way so that it will affect your tone much less and do more of a traditional compressor job).

Just offers so many tweaking options if one dare diving into the Toneprint editor (I actually didn't really like any of the pre-made templates and artist Toneprints) , but even me, with a fairly layman level of understanding of compression, was able to get out of it exactly what I wanted, with some trial and error, just listening carefully to how my adjustments affected my signal and re-adjusting accordingly.

Incidentally, the reason I don't have the MXR any more (as mentioned above) is that I now have a Spectra Comp!

Hi, I just came across this post looking for a solution for my dead MXR Compressor. Looking at the circuit board, I see two possible op-amps (U7 and U8) and I'm not sure which is the one that needs to be replaced. Can anyone help me with this?

    Thanks!

Sorry, I no longer own the pedal to check, and I can't remember off the top of my head!

  4. All recorded remotely, mixed by a mate and edited by me. Lessons learned along the way, but a fun project all the same. Wish we'd had this idea earlier in the lockdown and we could have knocked out a couple more.

  5. Versatile delay with various different delay modes (analogue, reverse, tape, multi-tap, etc). Great on bass.

Original box and manual. Perfect working order and good cosmetic condition.

The indicator LED was originally in a really stupid place (hard to see on stage), so I've moved it to below the footswitch, as shown in the photos. Happy to move it back to the original position at buyer's request (obviously this will leave a small hole, to be covered with tape etc).

UK postage £4. Obviously will be cleaned and packaged with appropriate anti-bacterial precautions.

  6. Made in Taiwan pink label. Perfect working order and very good cosmetic condition, with only minor scratches/wear.

    Works great on Bass.

Original box and manual. Early 90s model (as far as I can tell).

UK postage £4. Obviously will be cleaned and packaged with appropriate anti-bacterial precautions.

  7. Tiny clone of the EHX POG. So good a clone, in fact, that they had to stop making them (I believe Mooer nicked the EHX algorithms and subsequently faced a lawsuit?)

This is the original mk1 version, with original box and documents. Few scratches (as shown in photos) but still good cosmetic condition and in perfect working order.

Difficult to price as this version is long discontinued, but I've seen them go on eBay for £80+, so I think mine is priced fairly.

UK postage £4. Obviously will be cleaned and packaged with appropriate anti-bacterial precautions.

Where's this PSU been all my life?!

Slots comfortably below a "flat" pedal board.

Delivers 1.9A vs my Trutone 1Spot CS6 1.6A vs former Ciocks DC5 0.9A. I mention those two 'cos they are two very good PSUs which can also work well under a flat board.

It provides two 500mA outputs with variable 9V/12V/18V which are the most common alternatives

AND costs much less than either the 1Spot or Ciocks!

Struggling to find these anywhere other than Thomann. Strange that they don't appear to be more widely available?

BSSM was a Wal with a 5 string Stingray used on Naked In The Rain and I think Mellowship?

The Stingray 5 is on "Funky Monks" and "The Righteous and the Wicked". IIRC those are the only 2 tracks on BSSM that require a 5.

I'm pretty sure the Funky Monks film shows him playing "Mellowship..." on the Wal (?). Not sure about Naked in the Rain, but I seem to remember playing it on a 4 (albeit downtuned a full step, like "If You Have To Ask"), so presumably that's the Wal too?

I think you can go pretty slow with immac, don't take too long though as it will start to burn. On the other hand if you're waxing it's best to just grit your teeth and rip it right off hard. Horses for courses..

I'm somewhat disappointed that this thread existed for about 4 hours before someone did the iMac/Immac gag.

  11. Nope, couldn't even get a full album out of it. It was so bad I didn't even bother listening to the albums with Josh for several months (having previously been an avid fan since Mother's Milk) and, when I did get round to listening, was quite glad I didn't bother.

In all honesty I think of RHCP as two different bands - everything up to One Hot Minute is one band, everything from Californication onwards is another. That said, their bank balances certainly didn't suffer from their post-Navarro change of direction.

Whatever they do with John now, it can't be any worse than their last two records.
