  1. Thanks to everyone for the advice and comments - very helpful.
  2. Welcome aboard. As Jack Bruce would have it , we oldies have the 'gift of time'. I first picked up a Bass guitar 4 months ago and got a feel for it almost right away. Only 'age minus' is that I have more problem remembering the structure (verse chorus bridge) of tracks , than I did as young acoustic guitarist. I think , as you get older , you develop a better feel for music anyway.
  3. I'm looking for a reasonably priced (£200) way of recording my very loud rock band on portable equipment so that we can hear what we sound like - this is not with any intention of keeping the files - just as a learning/improvement tool. Has anyone got any first hand expierience of using portable digital recording units such as the Zoom H4 and the Roland Edirol R-9 ? What I need to know is whether these units will be able to cope with a loud band in , sometimes , confined areas , or are they going to 'clip out' and be useless. ? I've trolled the net and most demo stuff seems to be acoustic. Anyone got one or used one ??
  4. I've only been playing Bass for about three months, I'm having some trouble playing a bar at the 5th fret and hammering on the 7th. Occasionally I'm bumming the note, getting a little buzz off the fret.Do I just persist with practice or are there some excercises to help me stretch ?? I believe the Bass I bought, a Yamaha BB414 is a long scale , which probably is not helping.
  5. I bought a bass and effects etc from GAK - no problem. If you check out Thomann in Eastern Europe they can often be much cheaper - for eg ,£100 cheaper for a Warwick Bass Combo Ibought recently. Delivery times are a few days more but free delivery over £134- which for a 30kg amp from the East German /Polish border is very good. Also they assisgn an English speaking contact for each U.K. order - You get the photo /tel no/ and a name- very user friendly.
  6. A couple of years after watching the first Cream Reunion concert I have taken the Bass up. Currently rehearsing with a couple of friends , playing Cream Free , Rory etc.
