  1. I know where your coming from, my missus has loads of hand bags (how many do you need?) yet when I look at a bass she say's you've got enough! (I only have 4)
A couple of nights ago I had a dream in which I found a black/white plate Rickenbacker for a stupid insane low price at a car boot sale, all I had to do was to get the few pounds it cost out of my pocket and it was mine! Guess what my pockets were sewn up, the cash was inside but I couldn't get to it!!!!!!!!!! I was getting madder and madder but I still couldn't get to the money. while this was happening someone else bought it, SH*T!!!! as the seller passed it to the buyer it turned into a Geddy Lee sig. Jazz.
I'm not obsessed with 'the master' Geddy, but I may be obsessed with bass!!! :)

  2. Correct, I do want something less zingy than rounds but a bit more lively than flats, it's quite a can of worms when you try to find info.
I had'nt considered Elixirs, any body using these on fretless....thanks for help thus far............cygnus x-1

  3. I had read this pinned thread, I understand the pro's & cons of rounds v flats but when it comes to internet shopping I dont know which strings are half/semi e.g. are the D'Addario pro steels? I realise its a bit of trial & error but knowing a good place to start helps a lot, thanks, cygnus

  4. One of the things I like about this fellowship is, you can ask a daft question and people dont answer as if you were a numpty (hopefully?... only joking) anyway after having fretted bass for a few years, I decided to get a Squier VMJ fretless.
The thing I want to know is, it came with roundwounds fitted and they dont really give me that fretless vibe I was hoping for (a bit zinggy if you know what I mean).
I imagine flats might be a bit extreme the other way??, so what do people think of half/semi wounds on a fretless? I've read all the threads I can on here about strings but I'm no clearer. What would you fretless guys recommend and because I would have to buy on the net (local shop only sells rounds) where are the best deals?
Thanks in advance, long live Rush...........cygnus x-1 :)

  5. Hi, anybody got any experience of those cheap (£65) swift lined fretless precision copies on e-bay, are they just to cheap to be remotely half decent? I fancy having a try to learn fretless but there doesn't seem to be anything under £200. I wanted to pay about £120 ish.
I dont want to pay a lot incase I dont like fretless/can't play it. If I get on OK with fretless I would get a better one as funds allow. Or any ideas on 2nd hand lined fretless to look out for?..Cygnus-x1
