Watching En Vogue.  As expected, the rhythm section are a bit special.

Tell me more! Thought the set and backing band were sensational! Great arrangements too!

Yammy's are OK to look at, my brain will just have to get over the fact that they also make calculators and boat engines!

I haven't got anything against the Precision shape, it's just bonus points will be awarded for something that didn't look too traditional.

I'd look at the Player Plus PJ and Charvel San Dimas, although from reading around I'd be better off with a Sire. Only issue there is their PJ's look fairly trad  and no funky colours are available.

Ah cool! Which one did you have? I'm trying to figure out what the best ones in this series are. Some seem to come with Bart's and different preamps etc. Are the early ones made on Korea? Do you know if they're any better?

Yeah, completely agree there. Odd isn't it, when I say modern I mean something that sounds like it's 40 year old, not 70!

    Good point.

I suppose it started off the back of listening to Alice in Chains, Pantera and Fugazi - so Spector PJ or MM humbuckers are the general wheelhouse I'm after, although I'd be happy with other humbuckers.

  3. If I had £1500 I would play every used and new bass I could in my prices range. Have a think about 2nd hand, sorry, pre-loved, from a music shop as there is slightly more come back if something goes wrong. But play....if possible thru a similar amp to what you will use. I always smile a wee bit when Guitar shop dudes plug an economy bass thru their best amp or Markbass rig when the customer plays.

Not everyone has the cash to drop on a Fender so why not give people options depending on what they can afford?

Only stated this because many Squiers are close to the £500 price point and to be frank, these new standards seem to be Squiers with a decal. I wonder what price these will gather second hand and if that will affect Squier sales?
