  5. I will be trying out my new Sire MM U5. Just arrived plugged in .... what a growler ! J sound punchy, p bass thumping. Cant wait to gig with it to give my short fingers a break.
  6. My blue sparkle Sterling Ray34. Imported from Swee Lee in 2016. Much as I love this I might be selling soon as I have a black Sterling Ray34 with matching headstock, Ibanez jetking and just bought a Sire U5. Somethings got to go and this is just too pristine to limit it to pub gigs so will be someones pride & joy on a stage.
  7. Tried that but its the middle part of the terminal that seems slightly too short for the clip to make good solid contact
  8. I dont find Duracell a snug fit so connector can loosen in my Sterling Ray34 by MM
  9. Thanks all !
  10. Anyone else come scross this? I use them in my Sterling Ray34 but found that the battery clip fits ultra tight on one terminal but other is easy to pull off. I did an experiment last night using a VU meter to gauge output from my bass. It seems that output was quite low until I put pressure on the battery clip to mske sure good contact was made. Hey presto a bit if a pop crackle abd output increased. So Im wondering if the Duracell are shorter than other batteries and therefore the battery snap connector doesnt get pushed tightly in the compartment. Yes ive tried several brand new Duracells and new connector fitted. No loose wiring. Even done the same redt on another Sterling and its the same with the Duracell battery. Off to buy sone other brands to see if that makes a difference but may just tuck a bit of card or sponge in to ensure battery is even more snug.
  11. Of course I have preferred settings on my bass for certain songs so it stays flat until I change to that setting. The problem is now resolved...its the battery clip not connecting tight enough on one of the terminals
  12. The problem is resolved so how do I pet people know or.close the post
  13. Ive now checked the battery clip and think I found the problem so.my tech is going to put in a new one. Thanks for your help
  14. Thanks all, think Im going for.the mint U5
  15. Did you read my post? Brand new batteries tried and of course I check the volume is up full & my EQ is flat once Im plugged in.
  16. Must be passive or have the option to switch from active to passive. Prefer short scale as I have small hands but if I have to make a sacrifice somewhere then standard scale. I dont like woodgrain finishes. I play a rnage of genres and current basses are Sterling ray34's. Ive looked up the following: Rapier Saffire Schecter Banshee Sire Marcus Miller Budget is around £500 so any suggestions. I dont mind used but am very wary of scams so it sort of puts me off of ebay etc
  17. Thanks. Im just wondering if its the battery clip as the connector that goes to the red wire is really tight (broke my nail trying to get if off) while the other connector came off really easy. Maybe its too loose?
  18. No, sorry shouldve mentioned thats been checked and is fine
  19. Always one 🙄
  20. Ive since tried another amp and same problem. This amp has a VU meter and the needle barely moves when i play. Put my friends bass through same amp and with gain & master way way lower its ear splittingly loud and needle moves how it should. So it seems that the output from my bass is minimal. Battery & leads have been checked and checked again no crackling to suggest loose wiring so Im stumped as to why the output is so low
  21. I have a Sterling Ray34 by MM and having to turn volume & gain up on amp to a ridiculous level to get heard. Thought it was the amp but have since tried a friends amp which he uses in his band. Same thing happens. Have to turn up gain & master for my bass to be heard and the VU meter needle barely moves meaning putput fron my bass is very low. The VU meter needle shows good output from my friends bass and he has gain & volume set way way lower and its loud. Ive tried several brand nee batteries, checked leads theres no crackling from jack or anywhere else to suggest loose wiring. Stumped so any advice would be appreciated
