  1. Thanks Ash, good info. I haven't given it much of a chance with the Precision incoming. If it doesn't sell its not a disaster and I'll revisit at some point!
  2. Bought this 4003S ltd edition new from my local music shop in Morecambe last year. 2025 model and the Satin Autumn Glo is a UK/Europe only version. Recent purchase of a Custom Shop P Bass necessitates sale... I would grade this basically "as new"... fitted with Pyramid flats and set up by Promenade Music, I have played it for less than an hour. Priced at £2375 Comes with everything as new including hard case, original unused strings and I also bought some Tone/Volume marked knobs from Ricky Sounds which will come with it and these are shown in one of the photos, but it wears its original cooker knobs. Collection preferred from Morecambe or could meet Carlisle to Manchester M6 corridor. Happy to use a courier at buyer cost. Thanks
  3. Thanks for the links - this extracted owner bit from a 2009 post helps a lot - cheers "Hello Everyone - Here is a shot of my Fender Thinline Bass. This one is from 2003. It was indeed a legit not-for-export model. The person I bought it from told me it did not sell well in Japan as they are more interested in classic styles and colors. Hence it's short run. The bass is a kind of a hybrid. Modern bridge, reverse-tuners, old-style P-bass neck (thinner at nut) and Telecaster style body. It has a woody tone and its quite loud unplugged. Sustains forever. Plugged in the tone is big and round with plenty of mids and highs as well. The only negative is that it is quite neck heavy. While sitting down you better hold on! The model number is TNB-110SPL (Thin Line Bass, 110,000 Yen, Special). They also made it in blue burst. This one is a Q serial number. Since One US Dollar is worth about 95 Yen today, the bass would list today in US Dollars at $1179. It came with the Standard Fender Japan gig bag. By the time you paid shipping (about $125) and got a legit case this wasn't cheap but worth every penny. It is an outstanding instrument, beautiful to look at and a pleasure to play. I have tried flatwounds and roundwounds on it and prefer the rounds."
  4. Hi - No, saw it on ebay and was then directed by the seller to his Reverb listing where I got a bit of a reduction. I did list it myself back on Reverb some months ago and it was the only one for sale on Reverb... possibly worldwide!... but now have it as a keeper, hence trying to find out a bit more.
  5. I bought this bass about a year ago on a bit of an impulse and wondered if anyone knows a bit more about them or has had one. From a bit of googling I think the model is Fender Japan TNB 110 SPL and whilst a Precision body shape, is clearly a bit different with the pick up layout, hollow body f hole and telecaster style headstock. Think the TNB means Thinline Bass and presume SPL means Special, not sure about the 110... There are a couple of short threads on them here and elsewhere but not much info and I suspect a not often seen bass ?.
  6. Enjoyed a very pleasant and easy part trade for David's Empire P Bass over the xmas period. Excellent in all respects and a great introduction to buying on the forum. Thanks ! Andrew
  7. Hi all - I actually joined some time ago, however have not yet posted or said hello. North West England based and been playing for a couple of years, having started at errr...60 ! Big music fan from the 70's onwards and regular gig goer in my younger days, but never picked up an instrument. Fortunate now that one of my best mates leads a local band with occasional gigs as singer/guitarist and he was swapping bass duties with the other guitarist, hence my opportunity...just needed to learn a few songs !.. We do 70's rock & 80's post punk covers plus a some originals from said band lead. So far, so good, up to about 40 songs now and of course too many basses already...
