  1. Does anyone know how the Markbass Nano and Littlemark blackline compare tone wise? I have a Blackline 250 which I'm happy with tone wise, but have a need for one of the micro/nano amps. Trouble is noone round me seems to stock any, and having carefully picked the Blackline for tone I wonder if the Nano would be similar. I don't use the filters, VPE etc on the Blackline, just std tone controls.

  2. I still have my first bass (OP, its a much butchered 1962 Burns) which hasn't been out of whichever house I live in to play in over 40 years. There's some sentimental value there but also probably sod all monetary value. There certainly wasn't any 40 years ago!

  3. This 34in scale 5 string bass was a product of the Peavey Custom shop in the UK, probably built between 1999 and 2002. As can be seen its made of a generous selection of timbers, mostly ash, mahogany and bubinga at a guess, and I think a rosewood fretboard. It's been completely refinished in Tru-Oil, so very maintainable and rather striking in appearance.

The pickups are original, but I've wired it with two volume, one tone and a rotary switch, which gives 3 positions, coils in series, coils in parallel and coil tapped (single coil) so it is much more versatile than the original 2T 2V wiring. Strings are of course new, control knobs are not standard, and all in all a very pretty and unique instrument.

This bass came to me in pieces with no electrics, just hardware and pickups. I've spent a great deal of time and money bringing it up to this condition, only to find that I'm not getting on with 5 strings. It seems to be a nice instrument, but I suppose I've just been playing 4 strings too long.

New user signing up just to sell an instrument rings all the alarm bells of course and rightly so. You can find me on Talkbass with the same user name, and even find a thread ( peavey-5-string-what-is-was-it ) from when it came to me. Feel very free to message me from Talkbass if you want confirmation I'm that person. You can also find it advertised on Facebook Marketplace.

Price flexibility... Well, not an easy thing to value, and from what I can make out the price is pretty fair, and if I were to work out an hourly rate for all those hours of tru oil, sanding and polishing it would only depress me! There are a lot of new fastenings, knobs, pots, components etc and that stuff all adds up. There's never any harm in making an offer though, I don't mind saying no. I'm not interested in exchanges I'm afraid, I have too many instruments already, and I'm also not interested in boxing it up and sending it somewhere. So collection and cash only, from near M25 Junction 9, or Chichester area by arrangement. I have an as new Thomann ABS hard case available for it if required.
