Parchment is off white, it's not bright white or cream, but kind of in the middle.

I've seen there is a squier classic vibe orange mustang bass. Is the fender worth more than double the squier one? And would this be better than the yamaha?

Yes, the yamaha has labella flatwound strings and gruv fret wrap to reduce overtones.

I've got an orange yamaha pj bass which was recommended to me by a guitarist friend of mine, its really good. But I've seen an orange fender mustang bass, and I like the idea of a shorter bass. So which would be best for motown/soul type stuff?

I used to play upright basses, but switched to electric a little while back, so some advice would be great. Thank you.

Been playing bass, mostly upright for a number of years, but got into electric the past year or so, really enjoying it. Mostly Motown and Soul.

A guitarist friend of mine introduced me to this website, he's into building guitars and he's very good.

This site looks a lot of fun, read some very interesting stuff on here. Looking forward to playing and learning more.
