1. Hi Tayste, I bought it off you if you remember! Lol.
2. I've dropped the price to £750 to see if it moves...I thought this was the best place for flogging basses in Europe! Lol too many for sale!
3. Cheers Stoney...they are wonderful basses. I had a 5 string made for me by Nino and it's fantastic. It's sadly replaced this one & I need the money!
4. Thanks Andy...yes you might have as I bought it off a guy on basschat.
5. I don't know Rich, but it was a bloody good band...not the first time we've been in a good band together and its fizzled out! Do you know any guitarists...sounds like the rhythym section is sorted lol
6. Hey up mate...how are you?! You're right about beer...also I'm always on the look out for a band to play drums with as I haven't since RPM (what happened there!?).
7. Had this bass for about 5 years & never thought I'd sell it, but it's been sat in its case since I got delivery of my new Valenti 5 String...and I can't keep too many basses (what says everyone else...you can never have enough basses!) also I need the money nowadays. I used it in quite a few gigs and it sounds fantastic, so powerful. It has a few scratches and marks, especially on the rear, as you'd expect from a gig used bass (see the pics). However, they are nothing too serious and it still looks beautiful. This is one of the first basses Nino made under the name Valenti, he made it as an instock item as opposed to his usual custom work. The Specs are... Vintage Full Sized Jazz Alder Body Maple Neck w/Pau Ferro Fretboard Inca Silver w/matching headstock Satin Finish on Neck White pickguard Nordstrand NJ4 single coil pickups Aguilar OBP-1 2 band Preamp Hipshot HB-1 Tuning Keys Gotoh Quick Release Bridge Chrome Hardware Contoured heel for easier access to the upper frets Hipshot Drop D-tuner Vintage Tone Control Active/Passive Push/Pull Pot Series/Parallel Push/Pull Pot So the four controls are Volume (Push/Pull Series/Parallel) Blend (Wired like the Sadowsky basses are) Vintage Tone Control (Push/Pull Active Passive) Stacked Bass and treble of the Aguilar OBP-1 Pre Amp The price is now £750 as it comes with a Stagg hard case, that I got with it, that's got a few scratches as you can see. I still have the original pick up cover, but the screws are missing. I'm loathe to send this via post (if anyone wants to come and try it out before buying, I'm in Nottingham), but I will consider meeting anyone half way as longs as it's within 30-40 miles. 8. I apologise for not putting a price on here as I wasn't aware of the rules! . Having now looked around I reckon I'd be looking at around £350 including a gig bag. Sorry again...DOH! I bought this bass about 3 years ago now, and have recently bought an active 5-string, so it is surplus to requirements. It's a MiM Jazz 5 string & the Fender website says it's a 2002-2003 model (http://www.fender.co...-product-dating). I think it's a very good looking guitar and it has some slight 'dinks' in the body and neck as shown in the photos, otherwise it's in good condition. So over to you.... 9. I have a Fender 60th Anniversary Jazz and it was fine until recently. The E string is great, nice & loud, but the other three strings have become quiet and sort of lifeless...help!
10. Wonder if anyone can help. I've got a 60th Anniversay Jazz, which was absolutely fine until recently. During the last couple of gigs, the E-string is as loud as ever, but the other 3 strings are probably less than half the volume and just do not cut through. I've had a look at the electrics and everything seems fine. I also know its not the amp as my other guitars are OK. Has anybody else had this problem? Can anyone help?!
11. Jon, Thanks for all your help... With the knowledge you've gleaned and the photos have you got any other info on the bass, and was it worth the £300?
12. Jon, Thanks for all the answers so far. I've been a bit busy lately, but here are the answer to your questions: Is the fingerboard lacquered or bare wood? Yes Are the inlays real Mother Of Pearl, plastic pearloid or plain silver/grey plastic? Plastic pearloid I reckon Does the red part of the fireglo go all around the edges of the body or are there uncoloured parts? All round the body Does the truss rod adjuster have an allen key or a brass hex nut? Brass hex nut Are the body wings single pieces of wood or a "sandwich" split around the edges? Sandwich split Hope this helps
13. Guys, My earlier topic on Shaftesbury seems to have frozen up and I can't access it...perhaps its cos I mentioned the R*******ker word...so here goes for the second attempt. Wonder if you knowledgable people can help with some more info/history on early Shaftesbury R*******ker bass copies? Let me start with a romantic tale...when I was a slip of a lad and learning to play drums, I also fancied learning bass and a mate of mine offered to sell me his Shaftesbury copy for £50. As this was about 1977 it was an awful lot of money, but I asked him if he'd do installments, but he wanted the money now and I watched him sell the beautiful red guitar to another friend who subsequently got bored and...GAVE IT AWAY...to someone else....arrrrrggghhhh! Having played it and in later years played the real thing, I really couldn't remember much difference & I hankered after one for many years. Now for the happy ending...I recently bought one, including the original case, for £300 and boy is it money well spent as it plays like a dream and as a real one is about 5x as much I consider it a bargain! However, how do you age these things as the guy I bought it off reckons its a 1978? Anymore info/thoughts on these wonderful guitars would be most appreciated. Ta...a very happy ending geezer! 14. Thanks guys so far. I've attached some pics have you any further info? Ta
